February 30. Once again Winter Carnival was a great spectacle. The snow sculpture on the Green was a duplicate of the 1932 edition and was fascinating. The weekend was a fine mix of festivities, new and old. Yes, the local innkeepers had a good weekend. The 42 inches of snow that fell late in January and early February were a welcome addition. Of course the above is before-the-fact wishful thinking.

Spencer Kubo wrote that he is "in my last year at Cornell Med School N.Y.C." Spencer has had the "good fortune of being selected to the medical honor society and of being cowinner of the Clarence Coryell Prize for top honors in internal medicine. I'll be finishing in May and starting a residency in internal medicine at the New York Hospital, home of the displaced Iranians. Even greater good fortune occurred when I married Adele Delia Tone. . . . Fellow '76ers helping to celebrate were Stu Gasner, Bruce Boker, Jim Tierney, and George and Ann Browning Shaw."

Tom "How's My Three-speed" McConnell is working for the Boston Consulting Group in Mento Park, Calif. Boston in Mento Park? Thomas refers all inquiries to Kathy Lynch.

Steve "I Was the Classmate of the Month" Maloney, working for the Boston law firm of White, Inker, Aronson, Connolly and Norton in litigation work, was quite helpful in relaying the following news. Dan Carragher is working in commercial law, ("anybody want some cheap land?") for Widett, Slader and Goldman, also in Boston. See, all we're getting lately is street talk. Looking for a museum job in the East is Mike Arwe, who is receiving his master's in classics from the University of Missouri. Museums in the East? How about West Lebanon Children's Museum? BillKobokovich has passed the Maryland bar and is protecting the consumer, law-wise, in Baltimore. Bill and wife Linda live in Towson, Md. Also making a living through law is Bruce Kelley in Des Moines. Rumour has it that Jim "Shamus" Hourihan is engaged. We don't want to make this a controversial matter, but it seems like an H.T.H. affair.

This month's column sounds like a flashback to 1949 but ....

Wendy "The Surfer" Simila, sounds like, is like, is back from California (reprinted from Josh's newsletter), working in the Massachusetts Economic Development Office. Wendy attended the wedding of Jan "Tally Rally" Hudson somewhere in that "excellent" state. Jan was a transfer from U.C.S.D. Remember, her car was the one that John Gile rented for late night excursions to White River.

Nancy Kepes and Peter Jeton are engaged, thank-you Surfer, as of Christmas 1979. A July marriage? Congrats Nancy and Pete. Peter will be working in Nigeria for the First National Bank of Boston. Dave "A for Atlanta" Allman is classmate of the month. Dave relayed that "I admit my idol is Time magazine's choice of man of the year . . . not to mix politics here, but . . . there was another religious man who dominated the headlines in a more constructive manner. . . . Who reads Time anyway!"
