Dartmouth's stewardship of M.t. Moosilauke, 45 miles distant from the campus yet close to the heart of the College community, has been extended through an $85,000 grant from the Culpeper Foundation. The funds made the difference toward the purchase of the 2,300-acre Mount Blue tract, adjacent to the 2,700 acres already owned by the College. The summit and the steep slopes to the east, including the distinctive ravines, now belong to Dartmouth. Between those 5,000 acres and Forest Service lands on the mountain, the future of Moosilauke's fragile environment seems insured.
