Well, another fall is here and that brings football and more class news. I question the class officers' judgment in allowing me to take the secretarial job for another five years but I guess no one else wanted to make a fool of himself.

Paul Edwards married Adelaide DeSano Manera on July 13, 1980. Paul, a consultant specializing in new-magazine development, was executive vice president with Esquire Magazine. His new bride is a manager in the corporate-circulation promotion division of Time, Inc. (I am sure in time Adelaide will manage to increase Paul's circulation).

Frank Herringer was named a senior vice president of Transamerica Corp., with responsibility for corporate planning, acquisitions, and mergers. (Frank was formerly with BART Bay Area Rapid Transit but lost heart in BART so decided to depart and apply his art in the open mart.)

Tim Brooks, director. Television Network Research, N.B.C., has won an American Book Award for co-authoring The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network TV Shows. The reference book, published by Ballantine, chronicles the history of television

programs, stars, awards, ratings from 1946 to the present. Tim says, "I can't help but credit WDCR (for whom I was a staffer) for originally piquing my interest in broadcasting, many moons ago. I wonder if anyone will ever write its history? (I began one when I was still at Dartmouth, but it is long out of date.)" Your secretary's interest was once piqued to write the history of prunes and prune recipes, but I never had the time to sit down and write it on a regular basis.

Jim Cornehlsen writes, "Where oh where are the pea green freshman now celebrating their 35th birthday? Well, now we know. Beards, baldness, and paunches aside, it was great to rediscover so many familiar faces. I left book publishing in January to join a generalist, 30- year-old, executive-search firm: Antell, Nagel, Moorhead and Assoc., 230 Park Ave., New York City. In addition to business referrals, I would welcome a call from anyone near the Big Apple since I am recently divorced.

Jim Latham was appointed senior counsel to the Sheraton Corporation. Prior to joining Sheraton in 1975 as assistant counsel, Jim was a partner in the law firm of Goldman, Curtis, Cashman, Leahey and Latham in Lowell, Mass. Jim is active in many civic and community affairs, serves on the board of directors for the Lowell Art Association, and is a corporator of both the Lowell General Hospital and the Lowell 5 Cents Savings Bank.

P. Jonathan Young has been recently named a vice president of Brown and Caldwell Engineers and is the regional manager of the Dallas-Ft. Worth Engineering office. He has been in Texas for the last four years and is active in sailing, tennis, and photography. (Have you heard about the way they bury engineers from Texas? You give them an enema and bury them in a shoe box.)

Ward Whitt was married to Meryl Sacks in 1968 and separated (still good friends) in 1980 with no children. Ward received a Ph.D. in operations research from Cornell in 1969 and then taught at Yale from 1969-1977. He is now working in Operations Research Center, Bell Laboratories, in Holmdel, N.J., doing research on probability theory and its applications. Ward is currently training for the New York marathon and also likes hiking, tennis, and sking. (I wonder if he knows the probability of getting divorced in life. The odds regarding my marriage change every day.)

Larry D. Williams continues as music super- visor for the Great Falls public schools, Great Falls, Mont. His wife Becky works a long session as a ranger-naturalist for Glacier National Park. Larry is serving a three-year term on the editorial board of the Music Educators Journal, is active on several boards for the Great Falls Symphony, has been involved in luring a professional string quartet to residency in Great Falls (the state's only such quartet), and is a member of the Montana Arts Advocacy Steering Committee.

Well, I've lost my rhythm to continue writing. Bye until next month.
