This very month, in fact March 12, 1818, the Dartmouth College case before the U.S. Supreme Court was decided in favor of the College. And down through the years have echoed the closing words of Daniel Webster's plea! "It is, sir, as I'have said, a small college, yet there are those who love it." Appreciation goes to Dick Parkhurst for sending an article about this famous case from the March 1977 issue of Litigation, a publication of the American Bar Association.

Again it is with sadness that we tell you of the death of Freddy Frederiksen in Munich, Germany, on December 2, 1979. Our sympathy goes to his widow Jane. A memorial will appear in this or a future issue.

This item appeared in the January 21 issue of The Dartmouth. President Kemeny told the members of the faculty at their meeting on January 18 that he "does not plan to be president four years from today."
