Exciting news from the Houston area! Dan Hedges became the new U.S. Attorney for the Southern Judicial District of Texas, which extends from Madison County on the north to Laredo and Brownsville on the south and includes most of the Texas Gulf Coast and 250 miles of the Texas-Mexico border for a grand total of some 45 counties! Dan previously served as a trial lawyer with the Houston firm of Fulbright and Jaworski since 1974 and has a long record of participation in Republican party politics, including appearances in the fall of 1980 on behalf of the Reagan-Bush ticket and support of George Bush during the vice presi'dent's 1980 presidential primary campaign. His chief goal is to "operate the U.S. Attorney's office at the highest level of integrity, fairness, and effectiveness, and as a servant and protector of the people rather than as one more bureaucracy sticking its unwanted nose into their private lives and businesses." Best wishes in this new position, Dan.
