Despite seasonal snow flurries and a loss in football, a number of '68s enjoyed the last weekend in October on the Hanover Plain.

This class officer was job-hunting in Chicago while a representative group of your class officers and members of the executive committee huddled in Hanover for a good organizational meeting. President John McNamara led the session. Class Treasurer Mark Waterhouse was on board, as were Executive Committee Members Steve Calvert, Jim Tonkovich, John Engelman, and Peter Hofman. Seen around campus were Joe Grasso, Frank Couper, Lew Joel, and BillClark (recently father of a baby boy). The longdistance award went to Hans Preben Mehren, who seems to be spending more time in Hanover than at home in Oslo, Norway. Some speculated that Preben flies over for the good fraternity parties. The correct reason is related to having a son at Saxton's Academy and being involved in an effort to establish a Dartmouth Alumni Club in Oslo (good place for a '68 charter trip?).

A prophetic note giving full justice to Tom Couser's book American Autobiography: TheProphetic Mode (University of Massachusetts Press): Autobiographers, confronted by the contradiction between what America is and could be, have frequently assumed a prophetic role. Prophetic autobiography is often written during periods of communal crisis. Rather than emphasizing the individual, it attempts to consolidate the personal and the communal and is forward-looking rather than retrospective. In his book, Tom traces the tradition of prophetic American biography from the Puritans to the present. What a fascinating, complex subject to address. For those of you into a little light reading, try this one.

My news, finalized one hour before writing this article and a humble excuse for its brevity, is a job change: from operations manager of a division of Baxter Travenol Laboratories Inc. to marketing services manager of GCA Corporation's Precision Scientific Group, based in Chicago. GCA is a Massachusetts-based corporation and an internationally-known manufacturer of industrial production equipment and scientific and analytical equipment. I am also helping coach a bantam hockey team here. My current numbers are: 312/227-2660 (work) and 312/256-4468 (home).

Let's hear from you! Best wishes to all of you for a happy holiday season.
