The cry is "'56 OUT"! Start looking for a satisfactory photo of yourself for the 25th reunion book, and when you receive a biographical form to fill out, do it. Don't be left out.

From San Francisco, Bill and Norma Beagle are planning to attend. Bill is marketing manager with Pacific Telephone and relates how impressed he was with the guys on the Dartmouth rugby team that surprised everyone with their recent achievement at the famous Pebble Beach rugby weekend. The Beagles are neighbors of Bob and Marlinda Woodberry '54, who hosted an extraordinary party for the ruggers before the games.

From Houston, Dick and Jacqui Zock are planning to attend if it doesn't conflict with either their daughter Diana's swimming schedule (she is ranked 24th in the nation in the 400 IM) or a Houston Oiler pep rally. Dick reports that he is on the University of Houston faculty in the Finance Department and is staying in shape by running in the marvelous, noxious air of Houston.

From Milwaukee, Ed and Pat Ross are planning to attend. I caught Ed just before he was leaving for a week's skiing trip to Vail, and he admitted he was looking forward to reunion and was considering arriving via parachute jump onto Tuck Mall.

And from Puerto Rico, Tom and Lucilla Marvel are planning to attend. A recent San Juan Star headline tells us what Tom is up to, as it reads, "Architect Blasts Planning Board as Ineffectual." The architect was none other than Marvel, who has been a resident of Puerto Rico for 20 years and is a leading spokesman for San Juan to clean up its act or it will be the "City Ugly in the year 2000." Tom, who has been involved in urban design projects, said that in his field you need lots of patience and endurance, because no matter how hard you push, maybe half of your concepts will be implemented 20 years from now. He compared San Juan's potential with that of Vancouver, but Vancouver has done much more with its setting. We wish you well, Tom.

And finally this month, the class and his many Dartmouth friends were shocked and saddened to learn of Lee Smith's sudden death from a heart attack on February 24. An obituary' written by his friends will be forthcoming. The class extends its sympathy to his wife Peggy and two daughters, Sarah and Lee Ann (who made her dad very pleased by spending this year at Dartmouth on an exchange program from Wheaton).

Two Dartmouth alumni were among participants in a recent seminar held forcandidates for the U.S. Senate: SladeGorton '49, left, of Washington State, and Dave Bradley '58 of New Hampshire.
