"The reunion is coming, the reunion is coming," shouted Cube Conroy as he galloped into the meeting room at the New York Yale Club astride his gray mare "Eleazar." Wearing a loin cloth made of beaver pelts, Cube opened the meeting with a wah-hoo-wah heard as far north as Ompomponoosuc. The wah-hoo-wah was for none other than reunion chief TobyJulian, who had come to New York to talk about plans for the June 18-21 gathering. Many classmates and their wives were in attendance and the evening was delightful.
Classmates, if you have any doubts about attending the June reunion, dispel them immediately and finalize your plans. Toby and his staff already have commitments from over 900 who will be attending (we might set a reunion record) and the functions are well organized (something for everybody). This is it; the big one. I assure you you will be happy you made the effort. And remember our motto: "Even the asses are good guys." So all we need is you, your mate or date, a child or two, and the one friend you want to see. So call him up and be sure he will join you.
Wally Pugh announced that over $300,000 had already been pledged or given, that the goal of $656,000 is within reach, and that only one classmate had laughed out loud when told what was expected of him. The others might have been stunned a little, but they didn't laugh.
And finally, Russ Mead and Elliott Weinstein have put together a yearbook you will treasure. You will receive it by May to further entice you to come to reunion.
Other classmates in New York were the Hal Gordons, Elliott Weinsteins, Dick Whitneys, Bill Zales, Ted Sheridans, Wally Pughs, Russ Meads, Len Clarks, Ab Oakes, Ken Geary, Dick Taylor, the Howie Sodokoffs, Doug Keares, Russ Braces, Bill Tells, and the Tom Harpers.
Smoke signals we have received recently tell us that Peter and Meg Hovell are the proud parents of their first child and are odds-on favorites to win the parents-of-the-youngestchild award at reunion.
