Here we go from another angle, folks. I've been asked to pinch-hit for Greg Cronin, who's vacationing from coast to coast. The only difference about hearing from me here, instead of in the newsletter, is that everyone gets to know what's going on. Even though some of this is late" news, it's still good news.

John Shepherd wrote me about his wedding in August. It was really a Dartmouth wedding. Not only did he marry Julia Miller, but Geoffred Parkins Ph.D. '79 was his best man, Dave"Missouri" Conner was an usher, and Katy Miller '77 was maid of honor. Also in attendance were '76s Rob "Chief' McIlrath, Hank Ostwald, Bob Deason, Jud Porter, Rich Horan, Charlie and Betsey Rumely Visser, JuliaMiner, and Jamie Bergford. Non '76s included Hal McCartney '75, Geoff Carlson '75, Tim Gilchrist '74, Tom Sisk '73, Buck Allen '71, Bob Turner '70, Brian Deevy '77, Carl Hanson '77, and John's dad, Jim Shepherd '52. John and Julie have settled in Denver, which hasn't been the same since the wedding. John passed the bar and is specializing in environmental law for Holland and Hart. Julie received her master's in art history from the University of Denver and is managing a graphic arts shop.

Satch Orlando wrote that he will be moving to Hawaii in April to design surfboards for short Italians. He says he's still looking for that special board that will support his shapely gams. He plans to name his shop "Big Kahunas for Little Tunas."

Craig Reininger made it back from his threemonth expedition to Annapurna in the Nepal Himalayas. He's going to be married on July 26 to Becky Johnston of Seattle. Bruce and KimYork are neighbors of his in Seattle, as are recent transplants from Vermont, Kathy"Squeak" Van Weelden Saunders and Norm Saunders. Bruce is working for Price Water house in their tax department, Norm is studying avalanches, and Squeak is teaching x-c skiing. I'm sure all of them will make it to the Kingdome to see Jim Beattie pitch for the Mariners once a settlement is reached in the players' strike.

Dave Clark married Margaret Ann Altvater on April 18 in St. Louis. Sorry I couldn't make it, Clarkie. For those of you at the wedding who couldn't tell the players without a scorecard, Clarkie was the groom with the patent leather shoes with the Adidas stripes and the chinstrap to keep his helmet on.

Jeff Katz wrote that he and Stuart Weeks received the Socorro, N.M., Junior Chamber of Commerce's Outstanding Young Business Organization Award on September 30 for setting the city's all-time record with 656 houses on their paper route. They hope to add 350 more in 1980. They are still free-lance poets, and Jeff was published in the October 1 WeeklyReader.

Rip Fisher wrote that after seven years, he has finally persuaded Noreen Quinn to marry him. They'll be married in August after Noreen graduates from Wharton.

Glenn and Kate Spivey Robinson had their first baby, Christopher, on December 14, 1979. Glenn and Bill Keefe graduated from the University of Maine Law School in 1979. Bill passed the Maine and New Hampshire bars and Glenn passed the Maine and Massachusetts bars. Glenn is currently serving a one-year clerkship with the Maine Supreme Court in Houlton. They report that GeneSkibitsky is in Rumford, Maine, working for a transportation planning organization, and that if Dabney Hofammann sobers up from passing his medical boards, he may make his June wedding. Kate says that Gretchen Kent Sawyer is getting out — or already may be out — of the Army and into grad school at the University of Michigan. It's amazing how much news makes it to Houlton, Maine.

Dan Tomlak is heading back to the States with his wife Susan this summer. He's accepted a position with the UConn/"Hartford Whalers" in their oral and maxillofacial surgery residency. I guess if Lak could put KenPettit's pearly whites in order and give him the Farrah Fawcett grin, it's time to start in on the Americans. Give him a call if you want your lower face reconstructed or your wisdom teeth coaxed out.

Greg Cronin took off soon after the Massachusetts Primary, hot on the trail of Jimmy Buffet. He was heading to Florida and then to California, with stops wherever in between. He's hoping to meet up with Dick Carroll in Los Angeles.

Todd Morris has left his job with Trane and is now trolling with the Lake Michigan commercial fishing fleet. In fierce storms he's the anchor man.

For all of you who thought I had settled in the Himalayas with Cathy Joyce as my wife, there's been a bit of confusion. Cathy's getting married to Jack Brennan in May. Cathy's working for a real estate firm in Boston, and when Jack's not finishing up at Harvard Business School, he's busy picking out china and silver patterns.

Paul Fritzson has turned out to be Sugarloaf Mountain's answer to Billy Kidd. Instead of Stetsons, the with-it skiers in Maine are wearing the "CHF" hairstyle this year. Also, Fritz was joined this year at Sugarloaf by Pud"Lawrence" Nichols, who was visiting from New York. There wasn't much skiing, but Pud felt at home in his boots.

John Reidy recently was the winner of one of the weekly amateur night contests at the Golden Banana in Danvers, Mass. He wowed the ladies with his routine to Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy." Congratulations.

Well, I suppose that just about wraps it up for now. Depending on how Greg feels ah the mellow life, you may be hearing from me again.
