Hello everyone. I hope that by the time you read this, you will be well on your way to a super spring. Word has come in by special delivery this past week informing us that Jeff Immelt has won the first annual Roman Polanski look-and-act-alike contest and was immediately arrested at the Cincinnati Boys Club where he works as a counselor to young boys ages nine to 14! Enough said.
On a more serious note, I want to apologize to Lisa Mendleson for neglecting to include her in these notes before. Lisa is the assistant women's basketball coach here at the College and played an integral part in that team's capturing the Ivy League championship. Congratulations, Lisa! Another person I have neglected is my roommate, Marc Gautier, who is now a manager trainee at Jesse's and is having A great time. He is also playing in a few hoop leagues in the Upper Valley and is destroying everybody. Go get 'em, "Goat."
Urgent news has been sent in concerning likable classmate Harry Griffith. Harry had a bad skiing accident recently and was injured quite severely. He is recovering from compressed vertabrae, broken ribs, a damaged knee, a concussion, and more. All those who know Harry know he is fighting to come back stronger than ever. He will be on his back for six weeks and will be six more in a cast. If you could drop Harry a line, I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated by him and his family. His home address is Griffith Road, Fairview Village, Pa. 19409, and his phone number is 215/584-9044.
Greg Johnson has announced his engagement to Judy Lynn VanSickle of Arlington, Mass. Greg will enter the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in September. And James Higgins will marry Teresa Shannon '80 on June 28. Jim is now attending the University of Wisconsin Law School.
Timing being as it is, we should be just getting over our post-Green Key hangovers by the time this issue arrives. And if the grapevine is correct about the anticipated arrival of classmates Denny Hughes, Mark Miles, Joey Tomlak, T. Bird '79, Bill Swenson, John Saer, Russ Campion, Lyman Missimer, and a host of other sick people, then I am certain that those hangovers in Hanover will last for quite a while. Speaking of Russ Campion, we have been informed that he has been chosen to enter a training program for Inland Steel of Chicago. Only a handful of people were chosen for this program, and we want to congratulate Russ for his accomplishment.
And finally, from our "I-told-you-so" department, comes word that Steve "Boomer"Terrell has decided to tie the knot sometime next fall with his sweetie from Middlebury. We told you, "Shank."
Well, that's about it for this month and don't forget to keep those cards and letters coming. All letters of condolence for Jeff Immelt may be sent to: Rahway State Prison Rahway, N.J.
See ya, Pete.
