A classmate may be retired, but this does not necessarily mean he is inactive. Thus Milt Johnston and his charming wife Marj are deserting their new New Canaan and/or Groton, Conn., home to travel to Cincinnati in May to attend the wedding of Milt's daughter Robin. Tn June, Milt and Marj are off for a three-week trip. First they head for Vancouver and then they take a two-week tour of Alaska. And in October, their daughter Sue will be getting married in New Cannan. Incidentally, Milt recently came across a copy of a letter from John Greenwood to his mother, written in our freshman year. In the letter, John described how he, Louie Benezet, Milt, and Dick Stowell, after getting a ride of some 30 miles, hiked up an eight-mile trail to Armington cabin on Armington Pond for the weekend. Their return Sunday was described by John as follows: "After dinner we marched back through the icey woods to the main road. After bumming about five miles, Otto Schniebs picked us up and drove us to Hanover." Ah, those were the days! John added a postscript as follows: "P.S. I got three themes back, an A, B, and C."
George and Nancy McCleary are still living in Asheville, N.C., although they spent last summer in Rhode Island with their children and grandchildren. George is on many boards in Asheville and is especially involved with a home health agency. Their son Joel is active in the Carter campaign in New York State.
In Connecticut, Bob Button's company, American Transcom Inc., has teamed up with Scripps-Howard and Long Island Cablevision to bid for what promises to be the showcase cable TV system of the entire country, in Fair- field County. It's a 25-million-dollar proposi- tion and there is formidable competition, but Bob appears undaunted. Good luck, Bob!
Jim Pearson of Scottsdale, Ariz., is still working as a steel broker and represents several companies besides. Jim reports that his wife of seven years, a Wellesley graduate, did not marry him to have him hone for lunch, so he has no thoughts of retiring. However, they have done some traveling to both sides of the world and hope to do more. As Jim has not made a class reunion yet, we hope he will make the next one and see for himself how his classmates have changed! Jim and spouse go to the family farm in Connecticut in the summer, so let's hope they can arrange to finally make a reunion in con- junction with their visit to Connecticut. Jim says he only sees a few classmates but with the acceleration in retirement hopes to see more. He sees Dune Newell on the golf course. Dune has retired as vice president of Valley National Bank, but is a board member ■of the Old Colony Trust Company of Arizona. Vin Wentworth is still slaving for the American Express Western office in Phoenix and claims he does not play much golf. However, when he and Jim play, he always manages to take money from Jim. Steve Stotzer recently visited the area and played golf with Vin, and Jim spoke with him on the phone. In March, the Pearsons spent a few days with Charlie Brooks in Vail, Colo., and had great skiing weather. Charlie is planning to retire in a few months. Before leaving the Pearsons, I should point out that Jim has four married children and ten grandchildren and, like the rest of us, has trouble keeping their birthdays straight.
