Marv and Marion Frederick spent the summer at their home in Galway, N.Y., and are about ready to pack up and return to New Jersey. Though crippled with arthritis, Marv doesn't miss much of the activities going on around him. Don and Rachel Howe "attended a huge wedding of grandson David, class of '7-6 and a graduate of Creighton Law School in Omaha. David was a fine gymnast at Dartmouth, but a broken leg ended his aspirations in the field. Elliot Sharp plays tennis nearly every other day and goes lawn bowling in the afternoons and dancing at night with, his wife Hazel. In June, Dale Barker attended the wedding of his number-two grandson in Wakefield.
Jerry Shaw has put away his cane and is now driving his car not too far nor too fast. Cloughy is enjoying the fruits of Marion's gardening labors wonderful vegetables and beautiful flowers. Thelma Schmitt, with husband Rudy, attended elderhostels at New England and New Hampshire colleges in July and had an enjoyable time at both. She has been recovering from a broken hip which gives her time to do-watercolors from slides taken on their trip to Alaska. Thelma is the widow of Frank Ekstrom. Frances Sawyer visited Ralph's son in New Mexico, then went on to San Diego to visit his grandson George 'BO, who is interning at the University Hospital.
George Daisy's widow Ruth died on June 26 in Greenwich, N.Y., and Margaret Jahn, widow of Edward W. Jahn died on June 10 in Poland, Ohio.
Gretchen Ellms reported the sudden death of Harry Ellms from a heart attack on June 5 in Denver. Also, a clipping mailed from ChinkChamberlain advised of the death of EdmundR. Dewing in Plymouth,, Mass., on August 22. Obituaries will appear in the MAGAZINE.
