While I'm sure I won't be able to report the events as effectively as did the New York Times, at least you will have the benefit of my firsthand experience. Garth and I made the long trek to New York to attend the wedding of Jim Lloyd and Laurd Knickerbocker. The wedding was small, but there were those of us who loved it, including the various Dartmouth attendees. Jim Guth, direct from Chicago, where he is engaged in working for a real estate firm, was present, as was Brad Agry '76. John Pancoast '76 was around to ensure that his roommate of the past several years (Jim, not Laura) made it to the altar, and Steve Strauss '79 left his desk at City Hall, long enough to witness the marriage. Peter White was the self-appointed champagneserver at the reception, and among the toasters were Larry Appel (doing his residency at a Baltimore hospital), his fiance'e Jean-Marie, and Bob Dance. Bob is a free-lance art dealer in New York. As they say, much fun was had by all.

Our trip was a long one, and during the journey we ran into other familiar faces. Ann Helgen '78, who is slaving at First National Bank of Boston, ate dinner with us one night. She reported that Ginny Guimond has left Boston for Chicago and a job in the agribusiness and commodities division of the Northern Trust Company. Ginny will also be pursuing her M.B.A. at night at the University of Chicago. Peter White reported at the same dinner that Ben Craver was married in August and is still teaching junior high school in Dudley, Mass.

We also ran into Peter Mose '78 during our travels and had a long telephone conversation with Mark Beams when we passed through Washington, D.C. He is still going to law school and working in a law firm. His wife, Ann(Muenzer), is an assistant minister involved with youth and Christian education with a Presbyterian congregation in Rockville, Md. (Mark made the mistake of not warning me that our conversation was to remain unpublished.)

On the way back to Atlanta, we spent an evening with Gary Griffin, who is in the midst of a residency in radiology at the University of Virginia hospital. George Andreae and Ed Holubowitch are also there doing internships in primary care and family practice medicine, respectively. Gary plans to marry Janis Berg of Newington, Conn., in March.

Yet another host on our trip was Gary Sobelson '78, who is living with his wife Carol in Durham, N.C., while Gary does his residency in family practice medicine. While I didn't see her, I learned that Daryl O'Brien is finishing up her residency in pediatrics at the same fine institution, while awaiting word from the U.S. Public Health Service as to where she'll spend the next two years. She is hoping to be placed in an urban health care project on the East Coast. LeaSewell is also at Duke as a resident.

Class notes have been arriving as a result of Nancy's class dues mailing. The first six scribblings I read came from new doctors, but after frantic searching I did find at least a few people in the class who have found other vocations. For example, notes came from each of two different Charlestons. One was from Jeff Lyon, who is working in commercial real estate with Haygood Associates in Charleston, S.C. The other arrived from Mark Stanton, who says he's still practicing law and someday hopes to get it right. He was recently appointed copresident of the newly-resurrected Dartmouth Club of West Virginia, along with Steve Small '68.

Michael Carter wrote that he attended the wedding of Reggie Williams '76 this past June in Cincinnati. There were quite a few Dart: mouth people in attendance including CaldwellGaffney, Steven White, and Harry Wilson. Michael and Caldwell also took the train to Chicago to see Steve marry Diane Curry. Steve just graduated from Northwestern Business School and he and Diane are living in White Plains, N.Y., from which Steve commutes to Manhattan to work for Chase Manhattan. Caldwell is working for Allstate in Albany, N.Y., and may be making a move to Rochester soon. Mike is still working for Bell Labs and just completed a master's in economics at Rutgers. Mike also reports that Larry Hendrix is working in N.Y.C. and living in Brooklyn, while GussDavis is working in Birmingham while he attends classes at night.

I just hung up the phone after talking with Richie Bane, who is loving life at Bain and Company in San Francisco. As our reunion chair, he assures me that he can guarantee each and every classmate "a wild time." The dates for the reunion have been set for June 18-20, and by the time you read this, all of you should have received some information from Richie which requires a reply. If for some reason you did not receive this, or if you want to volunteer to help with the planning, please give Richie a call at his office: 404/415-0660.
