The only '31ers we saw at the Princeton game in November were Bill and Edna Wilson. Bill gave us a 24-page booklet entitled Twenty New Ways To Help Our Colleges. It contains outstanding entries from the Annual Awards Program for Innovation in Corporate Support of Higher Education, sponsored by C.I.T. Financial Corporation in honor of the Council for Financial Aid to Education. The foreword contains this paragraph: "C.I.T. is grateful to WilJiam L. Wilson for his valuable contribution in the planning and writing of this booklet."

We wrote Ed Gruen for a copy of a photo of Harry Reed and Ed taken last June. Ed sent the photo and wrote: "This Reed character is devilishly camera-shy. Only got what I did by sneaking a telephoto lens and having Berta stand about 20 feet away.

These letters were written in November:

Vance Dickerman: "In regard to reunion plans, if our program director, Rog Burrill, needs to bolster his entertainment sessions, may I suggest asking Jack Weisert or Bernie Boyle to stage a golf seminar explaining how they learned to break 80. An alternative that might also be of interest would be a travel lecture by Ralph Maynard, enlightening us on how he skips from Singapore to Kuwait to Stockholm to Buenos Aires without suffering the jet lag that afflicts most of us senior air travelers."

Jim Rice: "I am hoping, and planning, to get to the 50th, but it is going to take some doing. Hope to see you there."

Jack Weisert: "Yesterday was the 10th anniversary of DeGaulle's death. There is no question that DeGaulle was and is the greatest Frenchman of this century. While Ronald Reagan is still an unproved Charles DeGaulle for the United States, we pray daily here that his administration will restore our own tattered pride and self-respect. The Red Chamberlins were here October 10-16, and we had a great old time. Jack and Ceci are determined to make the 50th, and we hope to too. I send my thanks to those good people in Hanover [Lucy, Irv, and no doubt some other helpers] who put together our new class directory. It is really a first-class job."

Bunny Bertram was to be inducted into the National Ski Hall of Fame in February.

Red Gristede: "Now that.my two hips are in swinging shape again, I've developed a back ailment, athlete's foot (and I'm no longer an athlete), psoriasis (whatever that is), a biopsy of my gums (too much non-Gristede Bros, food), skin cancer tumors (which must be removed January 9, all twenty of them!!) but at least I'm not pregnant!! Oi vey!!"

Spence Miller presided over his 29th and last stockholder meeting of the Maine Central Railroad in December. The meeting approved a merger with U.S. Filter Corporation of New York.

Charlie Schneider was to have a hip replacement job on January 14 in South Carolina. It's the same operation Gristede had twice. The remaining items were forwarded by Lucy Cogswell:

Om Rosenblum: "Holly Lester Rosenblum made Harriet and me grandparents in January 1980. Nancy and Robert '73 (Tuck '75) now live in East Thetford, Vt. Stewart '70 is practicing law in New York City."

Doug Wilson: "I'm still involved as the textual editor in the Harvard Press edition of Emerson's Collected Works. Was in Cambridge for about a month last summer, working at Houghton Library with other editors. Volumes three (Essays, Second Series) and four (Representative Men) are almost ready for the press, we hope, but have not yet been inspected by independent scholars."

Peanut Winslow: "Marge and I were in Hanover in September. The occasion was David's admission to Kimball Union as a P.G. student in Meriden, Conn., and we chose the Inn mostly because we've been turned down so often. We returned to Maine that day. I'd like to see David get into Dartmouth, but he exeels only in hockey and dating, and unfortunately Dartmouth ranks academics ahead of the other two qualifications."

Doug Woodring: "Just back from Alumni College's 'Empire of the Sea' trip Venice, Adriatic, and Greek Islands. Great! Bee and I were surprised to find we were the senior class of the approximately 60 Dartmouth group."

Clif Harris: "Just returned from a month in Europe and again learned what a small world. On a barge trip south of Paris we traveled with the Inghams, Yale '24, who are good friends of the Nickums in Seattle. Back to Naples, Fla., in late November, and this year we look forward to attending the '31 reunion on the East Coast. Have our reservations for the 50th.

Our 50th is June 12-14.

A Dartmouth Alumni Award was presentedto Bill Minehan '31 last December at aMilwaukee Dartmouth Club luncheon.
