Bob Ross where are you? Expecting someone to follow in Bob's old-pro pen tracks is cruel and inhuman treatment, particularly when that "someone" has been a card-carrying noncontributor to this column for 10, these manyyears. To Bob, thanks for a job so well done that your successor has panic attacks at the thought of filling this space at all, much less intelligently. To everyone else, former non-contributors and dedicated regulars alike, "Help!" Send news of sightings of old friends, big events or small happenings, sly ways you've found to outfox the IRS, new ways to use credit-card float, the names of your first ten great-grandchildren—whatever. Left alone your secretary is bound to exemplify the GIGO principle, the Peter Principle, and the inferiority of mind over no matter.

Author! Author! Ev Wood having, in his courtly way, plied Baker Library Archivist Ken Cramer and Assistant Archivist Barbara Krieger each with "a very special German wine" for their great job of arranging the impressive Reunion exhibit of books written by '38ers, came up with these facts: the works of 23 classmates were exhibited...

Ken and Barbara added wine-tasting to the pleasures of the Treasure Room... and the authors were revealed to be Hal Berman, Carl Boothroyd, Dave Bradley, Bill Bronk, Howie Fogg, Bob Harvey, Ted Hunter, Asher Lans, Ed Lorens, Charlie Livermore, Bill Mosenthal, Lew Parker, Bob Pollack, Bob Reno, Bob Ross, John Scotford, Bliss "Ted" Thorn, Gerry Ullman, Gene Waggaman, Ben Ames Williams, Ev Wood, and Bill Wynkoop. Ever hear of so much literacy concentrated in one class? Amazing.

Counsel for the Council. The class of 1938 has a new representative serving on the Council of Alumni. Asher Lans will be our man in high places, succeeding Bob Reno who completed his three-year stint in June. (As you may know the Council comprises a group of 92 Dartmouth thought and opinion leaders charged, in toto, with the task of serving the best interests of the College and its 45,000 alumni in appropriate manner and style.) Asher has broad shoulders, a keen mind, and an engaging sense of humor. So now if you have questions, suggestions, complaints or condemnations, you can dump on Asher as well as on Bob Reeve.

September in Hanover. Dauntless Dick Francis reminds all: mini-reunion dates are September 21-25, when the Hood Museum will feature "Sweet Foretaste of Heaven," a fascinating exhibit of White Mountain artists, 1830-1930.

Item. Admissions for the freshman class of '92 set new records: 1,100 strong, 44 percent women, 22 percent minorities.
