Once again we are reminded that summer is over so far as class secretaries are concerned and another college year is about to begin.
The 1924 fall weekend party September 17—19, with headquarters this year at the Norwich Inn will have taken place before these notes are published. A report of the class meeting held at that time will appear in the "24Hour Notice."
It was an honor to the class that Ted Lamb received the honorary degree of doctor of laws at commencement time. The citation accompanying the presentation was printed in full in the "24-Hour Notice," but we quote in part: "Dartmouth is proud to honor a distinguished alumnus whose intellectual curiosity and humanitarian ideals have remained fresh and vital throughout a remarkable lifetime." To this we add the congratulations of his classmates.
A showing of paintings by Dick Morin was held at the A.V.A. Gallery in Hanover for several weeks, starting September 10.
Two valuable items have been presented to the College library by Ives Atherton in memory of his father. The first is a royal grant, dated May 11, 1772, printed on parchment, regarding land in Vermont, but previously in the province of New York. The second is an English Bible, a royal version printed in 1613, which fills a gap in the library's collection of early Bibles.
Plans are being made by Jimmie Reid's family for a memorial service to be held in October in the United Nations Chapel. The date is not yet set.
Visitors to the Cape this summer have included the Craigs, Robinsons, and Taylors.
Beatie Adams and Pauline Hartshorn attended the Horizons program in Hanover in July, both of them agreeing on the value of the program and the excellent opportunity it offers to learn about the College.
Hope you had a good summer.
