A recent trip to Boston to do some househunting afforded us an opportunity to attend the wedding of Larry Appel and Jean Marie Ricketts in Rye, N.Y. There were a number of classmates in attendance, including Peter White, Jim and Laura Lloyd, and Rob Sholl, plus Gary Sobelson '78 and his wife Carol. A distinctive highlight of the reception was Larry's rendition of "Ain't She Sweet," played on his trombone and dedicated to his new bride.

Linda Whitehead sent a note from Bainbridge Island, Wash. She continues to do landscape design and installation in the island community, just a ferry boat ride away from the metropolitan Seattle area. She hasn't decided whether she'd like to go into business for herself or perhaps pursue a degree in landscape architecture, but pending a decision she keeps busy by climbing, hunting, and fishing. Linda had a great time with Don Wiviott when he passed through last winter.

Ellen Duke Strauss had a baby boy almost a year ago which she and her husband named Stephen Alan. She took some time off from teaching to be a full-time mother and found that she loved it. Leslie Embs, Dee Dee Granzow, Nicole Lewis, and Diana Taylor all came down to visit and to meet Stephen a headstart on the reunion!

The mail bag also contained two other birth announcements, from Bill Parker and Nina Steele Wellford. Brendan B. Parker was born on October 3, 1980, and Gary Rogers is the lucky godfather. Jan Harrison Wellford was born on October 20, 1981. Nina also reported that she and her husband, Bede '76, are living in Maine where they bought an old Cape farmhouse and 13 acres of land that have kept them busy with renovations and small-scale farming. Bede is teaching at Gould Academy and Nina teaches skiing and runs her own photography business.

Ann Lucchini Hickey asked me to notify classmates that she married Thomas J. Hickey on October 11. Tom and Ann are both working as civilians for the army at Rock Island Arsenal, Ill.

Leslie Embs is still at Irving Trust in New York, calling on Fortune 1,000 firms in Connecticut and New York. She is also working on her M.B.A. at N.Y.U, night school and has done some modeling for Simplicity Patterns. Her picture can be found in the April Simplicity counter catalogue.

Will Davis transferred to M.I.U. in Fairfield, lowa, where he got his B.A. in interdisciplinary studies, with a concentration in education. He also went to Maharishi European Research University, Switzerland, where he received training to become a teacher of the Transcendental Meditation program.

Other notes include the following: David Long is studying at Stanford for his Ph.D. in English. He is delighted with the program and with the prospects. Orville Lunking has moved to New York after getting an M.B.A. from Wharton last May. He's working in the treasury for General Motors in foreign exchange and cash management. Sunichi Homma is now an intern in internal medicine at Montefiore Hospital. He often sees Wyeth Braden, who lives a couple of blocks away and works for Morgan Guaranty.

Lastly, Nelson Valverde will finish his M.B.A. at Wharton in May and then hopes to make a cross-country road trip with his wife Janice. Of course, the final destination will be Hanover for our fifth reunion. Mike Zishke called Nelson not long ago to get some travel tips to prepare for a trip to South America next summer after graduating from law school.
