Greetings. I hope your summer was a satisfactory prelude for this winter, which, according to the woodchucks, squirrels, and other such knowledgable creatures, is going to be a real rip-snorter.

There was a fair amount of mail over the summer, and indeed some of it was from last winter, when Eric Kankainen, a member of the Hovey Grill West Ski Team, finished second in the Intermountain Masters Races held at Snowbird. Eric also won his age category, which is great, now that we've reached the point where we do age-group sports. Anyone else with news regarding other demonstrations of age group prowess is hereby urged to write.

On to matters jurisprudential, Dan Cooperman and Allen Garten have both made partner in their respective law firms Dan in San Francisco and Allen in Portland, OR. Allen adds that he and Cynthia, and youngster Emily, thoroughly enjoy the scenic and recreational joys of Portland. And Joel Hyatt's Legal Services Clinic business is enjoying great success. Recent stories in the New York Times and the well-known Beta Theta Pi monthly have featured Joel's business.

Also received was some news from our intrepid naval aviator, Don Fennessy. Don spent from 1977 to 1979 flying Harriers with the RAF in Germany, and he not only survived the jump-jet experience, but had a chance to become intimate with all the ordnance, tanks, and rockets that the Russians have in East Germany. He also got married to Sue, and before too long, Brian Peter appeared on the scene. Don says he looks sort of like Winston Churchill and would be a staunch addition to the football team some time in the next century. Don also adds that he is now attached to the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk, an aircraft carrier, and he would be happy to take anyone in the San Francisco area for a tour if they are interested.

Well, that's it for this month. The remaining pickings are sparse, so now is the time to take pen in hand, before I have to resort to more stories from Fabian Ropogol.
