Duze and Helen Lounsberry have been having a great time on Deer Isle a lot of their friends are Friends (Quakers) who meet at different houses. Early in September the meeting was at Esther Brown's in North Brooklin, Maine. Esther is very active in the group.
Duze also mailed me a letter from KathrynPotter. She and Julie spent ten days in New York, three in Boston, and eighteen on Cape Cod. They tried to reach Dale Barker at Bass River, but were unsuccessful. (Dale missed out on most of his vacation at Bass River, as his back-up driver got ill and they had to bring him back home.) Kathryn and Julie had lunch with Chink and June Chamberlain on the Cape. This was Kathryn's first trip back to New England in about 16 years she could not get over the changes in Boston and over how beautiful New England looked. She said they made quite a dent in the fish supply! Kathryn also talked on the phone with GraceDowning and reports that Grace is well and happy in her surroundings.
In addition, Duze advises that George Ingalls is in the Community Hospital in Boulder with a heart attack. We hope he will be back home before long. We are indebted to George for the war series he was kind enough to allow us to run in the "Frontiersman."
Duze and Helen plan to winterize their home on Deer Isle and later may be able to move there for good. Their daughter Barbie and son-in-law Jay Hirama plan to move to Deer Isle also. They are both enjoying excellent health and Helen keeps busy with her sketching and the garden.
Ruth Crance is now living in Hanover. Her new address will be listed in the next issue of the "Frontiersman," planned for early in December.
It was reported in the New York Times that Al Bradley died September 11. The class extends deepest sympathy to his family. An obituary will appear in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE.
