I noticed the forsythia in my back yard blooming away riotously this morning as I scurried out in the fog and rain for another long day at the office. It seems spring, flowers, green grass, and the income tax deadline have returned to southeastern Pennsylvania.

This is also the beginning of the spring trial term in our local court, which means I'm about to submerge for several weeks of endless days and nights of litigation. This may well be my last rational communication with the world until that's done.

I managed to get a mailing off to 20 of you a couple of weeks ago. Two responded. A little under par for the course, I'm afraid. I guess I'll have to start burning up the phone wires. Next month.

Ric Grefe writes from Washington, D.C., that he and Karen had their first child, Justin, last December. They are recovering well, he says. In January, Ric joined the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as director of policy development and planning.

Chuck Geisler is living in Ithaca, N.Y., where he is an assistant professor in rural sociology, with interests in social impact assessment, resource ownership and control, and Indian land claims. Chuck married Barbara Bedford, who teaches ecology and systematics at Cornell, in January 1982.

To both of you gents, thanks for the notes.

John McPherson has been named director of financial planning and analysis in the financial division of Mervyn's, a chain of 71 stores in six western states. John joined the company in 1981 as director of strategic planning.

That completes this month's mailbag. By the time you're reading this, our reunion on June 16—19 will be a mere matter of weeks away. Hard to believe 16 years could have melted away so fast. . . .

See you then!
