One of the joys of Christmas is being the recipient of so many lovely cards from members of the Class. And among these it is rewarding to have expressions of intent or of hope to be on hand for our 60th reunion next June. These include Grace Burnham,Dutch and Edith Waterbury, Jim andCarola Steen, Mark Allen, JohnBrewster and son Ted, Sam and MarianHobbs, and Nelson and Hazel Doe. The real nostalgic note was sounded by RayTobey in a Christmas letter filled with the sweet fragrance of pine and the welcome odor of burning wood in the fireplace. Added was the good news that Edith is on the up and up.

Jo Adams reports being delayed from her usual trek southward by her sister's operation. Henry Stevens' sister Anna is improving to the point where she has exchanged a nursing home for the hospital. This is cheering news. From LeonaRichmond comes news that she is spending the winter in Florida with her sister to escape the snow and cold. Connie Snow tells us he has installed a chairlift to help Katherine with her arthritis. (I might use one myself in the near future.) BarbaraHoban cheerfully reports enjoying winter in her "playhouse" in Laconia, N. H. And Hal Freund's widow Ernull sends an appreciative note to the Class for sympathy expressed at the time of Hal's death. The one sad note comes from Alyce Kimball telling of the death of Ken's youngest son D'49, leaving a large family.

Orchids to our Class Widows Editor, Elizabeth Park, who sent out 93 sweet notes for the holidays to all her flock. Whan an unselfish expression of the Dartmouth spirit!

By the latest Billboard you all have leanred of Bill Shapleigh's forced rest from his labors. We are very thankful he is again percolating but, in the words of his physician, "he really should not have too many responsibilities put on him. How are you going to change him?" The only remedy that comes to my mind is more rides on one of those Canadian Pacific trains.

I must not overlook a joyful note from an old friend of college days, Lin Yi Ho 'll reporting his recent physical checkup with a resulting good return. He tells us he spends hours out there on the University of California campus at Irvine reliving student life.
