Spring has sprung in Florida, at least for today, so your secretary is in a very good mood. I must be getting old, as I recently had to put up the heat when the temperature got down to 65 degrees. Anyway, I am in a temporary state of euphoria which is conducive to celebrating the exploits of our fellow classmates. Now for the news:

Ron Schram is a member of the 18-member board of trustees of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He was elected a trustee of the college in 1981 and since 1982 has been a member of the board of overseers of the medical school. Ron is a partner of the Boston law firm of Ropes and Gray and has a special interest in health-care law and non-profit organizations. (Ron was recently recruited by the law firm of Boyd, Dewey, Cheatham and Howe, but decided to stay with Ropes and Gray. Think about this for a while and you will see some sense to the decision.)

You all remember Bill Lewis, the natant nabob of New York who spent so many years as a financial administrator with Pepsico. Well, Bill traveled from Pepsico to Columbia Pictures and now to Simplicity Pattern Company of New York City. Recently Simplicity announced that Bill was appointed to the newly-created position of senior vice president, finance, and treasurer. In this new position, Bill will serve as the company's chief financial officer. He will be responsible for all accounting, reporting, and treasury functions and will, in addition, assist the company in its diversification and investment activities. (Bill, we hope you have felicity and simplicity.)

Pete Luitweiler, Gulf Oil Company executive excelsior, sent me a nice letter recently. He visited Brad and Barbara Evans while in London and reports the Evanses are moving into a new house. Pete shared a cute story with me. While in college, "Chubby" used to run a caddy camp at Lake Sunapee. Guess who was one of his caddy-students? Mike Walsh, who is the present head baseball coach at Dartmouth. The Luitweilers have lived in Houston, Tex., the last five years and you can call him at the office at 713/754-1710 if you want to give him some gas.

After 12 years in Africa for the United Nations Development Program in Ghana, Morocco, and Tunisia, Whit Foster has just returned from southern Sudan to work for the World Bank in Washington, D.C. Whit spent Christmas in Hanover visiting with his children, Chris (14) and Sasha (11), and then enjoyed some good skiing at Mad River Glen, in Vermont. (The Mad River area is your humble secretary's old stomping ground and I hope to spend some time up there this summer in Waitsfield, Vt. My number is in the book.)

Ted Temple has moved back to Boston to work for Kendall. Ted lives in a 100-year-old monstrosity on Green Hill in Hull, Mass., right on the ocean. Ted moors his sloop right out in front of the house. (Ted, your secretary is an erstwhile sailboat racer from the Hull Yacht Club and spent many a day on Quincy Bay. Is the A Street pier still there? Is Bumpkin Island still a favorite picnic spot? I remember when Hog Island was an army base. So much for this esoteric nostalgia, but Ted may know what I'm talking about.) Ted's wife Barbara resigned as executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Food Bank and "seems" to be enjoying the experience of being a homemaker. Their daughter Julie, 13, thinks living on the Ocean is "awesome." Ted reports that his oil heating bill is "awesome." (Ted, is the deli still on the corner at A Street?) That's it for this month. Bye.
