You Guys are not going to believe this, but on September 25, 1975 your class executive committee (Ho-Hum) had a meeting (line up: Bob Bartles, president; me; Carl Du Rei; Ron Schram; Scott Creelman). I do not want to disclose the contents since we need the legal mind of Ron Schram (lawyer excelsior) to determine what is classified and what should be disclosed to the great unwashed. (See our class newsletter which will be up and coming.) But I have to relate one interesting highlight of a meeting that instead of being a "bull" session turned out to be a "Pork Session." After a few preliminary issues we got around to Alumni giving at this point. Scott Creelman dropped a bomb that resulted in Bob Bartles' first executive decision. Scott is slaughtering two pigs on November 3, at his farm-house in Montague, Mass. TomSpangenberg will attend to administer the last rights. (See August issue of Yankee Magazine where an article appears - with pictures - on the erection of a barn, the timbers of which he hand hewn himself.) The fact that Tom knows all about a barn, according to Scott, makes him ordained to commit the porkers to the dining room platter. Well, anyway, at this point in the meeting, Scott wanted to know if one ration of bacon, two fresh hams, and 20 lbs. of sausage could be considered an alumni gift. Bob Bartles, not to be upstaged lest his supreme power be threatened, characteristically responded that he had a herd (brace, bevy, flock, a mess?) of pigs and that if pork could be considered a gift, Bob could be as big a benefactor to Dartmouth as Nelson Rockefeller. Needless to say, the whole issue was dropped like a pound of ??. Is there anyone out there in alumni land with a menagerie that can outshine Bob Bartles? And I don't mean your kids.

Now for the news, classmates. Carl Du Rei reports the birth of his first son "Teddy" on Sept. 7, 1975. Teddy joins two sisters, Cathy and Melissa. Carl is an accurate accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Boston. Let's all hear it for Carl's mounting tax deductions (a round of snaps? I can't believe I remember that phrase).

Did everyone at the Reunion know that the "flashback" copy of the Daily D was the brainchild of Bob Bartles and Ted Brachen '65? They solicited the ads, assembled the material, and used the newspaper facilities (with some '65s> to make the paper a pleasant frill for reunion.

Another news flash: New York, July 17 - Jonathan Sturman has been named financial analysis manager of Freeport Minerals Company. Jon joined Freeport in 1973 as a financial analyst and became assistant manager in 1974. After his graduation from Harvard Business School in 1967, he became a security analyst with Eaton & Howard in Boston, then on to the Eastern Gas and Fuel Associates also in Boston. Boy, could I use some financial analysis. I don't know whether it is better to carry my coins in my right or left pants pocket. Jon, can you help me?

1964 Jock scene: One very important news item escaped me in my reunion report. Five '64 rowers were involved in a drag race on the Connecticut. A boat of four alumni crewmen, including Greg Campbell, Jim Cornehlsen, and Mike Wilkin challenged (with a handicap) a boat of eight, including Ben Koehler, and WillCook. (Ben Koehler probably being the han-dicap). Either Jim Cornehlsen or Mike Wilkin caught a crab (only one?), naturally neither would admit which man caught the case, I mean, crab, so the fours lost to the eights. Everyone had a good time thereafter drinking rounds of beer (or was it Pyrinate 500.)

Well that's it for this month, kids, see you later.
