Mid-winter laziness has set in, so this will be short. Russ Granik has been named executive vice president of the National Basketball Association. In this position, he will oversee public relations and legal operations and will serve as liaison between the commissioner and the NBA players and owners. Russ graduated from Harvard Law School in 1973 and joined the NBA legal staff in 1976. Russ was a central figure in last year's collective bargaining agreement and represented the league in the recent anti-drug agreement drawn up with the players.
