1909

It is 1909's 75th reunion year earnestly anticipated since nine of 11 living graduates met for the 70th! Now there are three, none physically able to travel, but remembering with loyalty and love "other days."

Class president Harold S. Clark, 96 last October 16, is currently in a nursing home. He plays the piano, travels to family gatherings, and was present at the 1983 Class Officers Weekend. Address: c/o his son Francis, 78 Gilbert Road, East Weymouth, MA 02189.

Reginald H. Colley, 97 on May 27, is also "under care." Reggie has served 61 years in the American Wood Preservers Association and this year was a collaborator in presenting four papers at the annual meeting in Dallas. (In 1909-10, he taught biology at Dartmouth for $BOO a year; and after two years at Harvard, he returned for four years at an annual salary of $1,200). His current hobbies are math, Spanish, and Russian. (Would that all our lives could be as full and productive for this long!) Bertrand C. French, the youngest of the class, is also confined to a nursing home. He has constant visits from family and friends and sends this greeting: "The class of 'O9 has always been a hardy class. We are scattered far and near and have left our mark in all our fields of endeavor. We looked not in vain to Dartmouth for inspiration and guid- ance. A valedictory salute of warmth and love these three staunch men of '09 send to Dartmouth, its alumni, and all associates. Selah!

A notice about a former classmate, Francis Henry Bird, reads: "His association with the University of Cincinnati's College of Business Administration spanned over a half century — as professor, dean, and dean emeritus. A portrait has been commissioned and given by students and associates. It will be hung in the new building now under construction."
