The class was well represented at Class Officers Weekend in Hanover on May 4 and 5. The cold and wet weather on both days did not seem to dampen anyone's enthusiasm, and all parties attended a full schedule of general sessions as well as the separate sessions of their respective groups. Those participating were Pete Wheatley, vice president; Rollie Taylor, class agent; Stan Chittick, treasurer; Robin Robinson, newsletter editor; Dave Dyche, co-bequest chairman; Beatie Adams, widows chairman; Dick Morin, reunion chairman; and Ed Winsor, secretary. Spouses present were Al Wheatley, Edna Taylor, Barbara Chittick, Ellen Robinson, and Betty Winsor.
At a special rump session of the executive committee,, held after a meeting of the reunion committee, we were joined by ChineeAllen and Don Bartlett. Dick Morin reported that his best estimate at that time was that we would have a total of 90 people attending reunion, which would be a very creditable showing. Everything is lined up for an enjoyable and memorable program.
Rollie Taylor reported that while our special reunion contribution to the Alumni Fund was doing well on total dollars, it was lagging considerably on number of contributors. He pledged continued efforts in pursuing all assistant agents and individual laggards.
Dave Dyche reported that the bequest committee had had a good year. It required an inquiry from one of our trained spies, however, to get Dave to admit that he and his co-chairman, Harry Holmlund, had been selected jointly as Chairman of the Year by the bequest chairman group.
On Saturday afternoon Chinee and Margaret Allen gave a cocktail party, at which We were also joined by Pauline Morin and also by Wes Blake and his wife Helen, as well as by widows Helen Coyle and Mary Bridge. Hope I haven't missed anyone.
Earl Daum had come to Hanover on an unrelated matter and was staying at the Inn. He had no idea that it was Class Officers Weekend and that there would be other classmates there. He had to leave on Saturday at noon, but we all enjoyed seeing him. In case you are not familiar with Earl's career, he lived for many years abroad and was in charge of all of General Motors' operations outside of the United States and Canada.
David B. Dyche '24 and Harry A. Holmlund '24 were named Co-Bequest Chairmen of the Year for 1984 and winners of the Ford H. Whelden 1925 Award. The class of 1924 now stands fourteenth among all active bequest program classes in the number of bequests received by the College and is sixth in both the number of life income trusts and the total value of life income trusts received by Dartmouth oVer the years.
