After serving as a consultant to Batten, Bar ton Durstine and Osborn Inc. for the last six months, Rick Shambroom has joined that firm as vice president of manager account services and describes his new responsibilities as both exciting and a super use of his background.
It is great news to hear that Bill DeStefano has agreed to serve as our class newsletter editor for the remaining two years of BobHeussler's term, which ends in June 1986 at our 40th reunion. Bill has been the principal of the Mansfield, Mass., High School and now has retired and is in the throes of moving to South Yarmouth on Cape Cod. We can look forward to his newsletters beginning in the fall.
It has not been often that we have heard from John Knipple of Alexandria, Va., so it was a particular delight to get his note even though it was bearing the sad news that he had lost his son, Corporal James C. Knipple, U.S.M.C., in Beirut. He was one of those killed on October 23, 1983, as a result of the terrorist bombing. I am sure that many classmates share the sense of pride that John feels for his son and the other Marines who were serving our country and doing their duty. Our deep sympathy goes out to the Knipples in this time of loss.
John Wolfe is continuing to make headlines with his sales-training seminars. Last September, he conducted a series of seminars in Denmark followed by a two-week cruise through the Mediterranean. John also had a second feature article published in the May 1983 Reader's Digest entitled "You Can Speak in Public."
Jim and Ari Lynch, Frank Ettari, and Daveand Jean Weld were on hand for Class Officers Weekend in May and shared a pop or two with Hanover locals Ed Scheu, Bob andJackie Kimball, Reg and Nancy Pierce, Whitey and Joanne Burnham, and Dune andRuth Fitchet. There also was a brief class meeting to discuss plans for the fall mini-reunion October 19 and 20 (Harvard weekend). Thanks to the Kimballs, we will again have a tent in their backyard for pre-game festivities, which will begin immediately following the regular executive committee meeting at the Kimballs' at 10 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to attend that meeting if possible, for in addition to the regular business, Jim Lynch will be looking for ideas and assistance as we begin the planning work for our 40th reunion. After the game, a cookout is planned, also at the Kimballs'. You will hear more about the details in a special letter from Jim this spring.
Let's have a big turnout for the big game of the year in Hanover. See you there. In the meantime, we need news from you to keep this column going. Please keep in touch. Best regards.
