If none of my 174 living classmates will take the time to tell me about themselves, the only alternative seems to be to skip this column altogether this month or to take the initiative in telling you about yourselves or at least where you come from and what your chances are. We have had eight deaths since the compilation of our 60th-reunion class directory. 105 of the survivors, starting with DanaBent and ending with Phil Morse, have had no casualties. It would appear that if you fall in this major alphabetical group, you ought to be safe for some time to come. The rest of us had just better be careful.
Geographically, our present locations are probably different in many instances from what they were a decade or two ago. Florida leads the list with 28, followed by Massachusetts with 24, with New York in third place with 21. California comes next with 16, followed by New Hampshire with 13, New Jersey and Connecticut with 12 each, Vermont seven, and Ohio and Illinois tied at six, Pennsylvania with four, and Oregon and Minnesota with three each, and Georgia and Illinois with two each. Twelve states have a single representative, and we have one classmate living in Canada and one in Costa Rica. (This is out of balance by one. I can't seem to find the error.)
Since completing the foregoing, I have learned of the death of Frank Rolfe, which makes my computations wrong before they are even printed. It does not interfere with the alphabetical conclusion in the first paragraph, however.
