Yes, it's true. I've moved from New York City, and I am here at HBS (Harvard Business School), the boot camp of capitalism. I have three of our beloved classmates in my section and many more about campus. Bill Kouchalakos sits behind me. Michelle Ott is a few seats to my left, and Diana Goodman is right in front. It's nice to know you aren't the only green one in the bunch. In the next letter we will round up all of the '83s on campus for a group photo.
Before I go any further, I have a recipe, sent in by Jeff Teich, that is extremely appetizing, so I had to present it to you in its original form, from the summer of 1985.
"Recipe for a Party": Begin with BruceRedman and two gallons of tequila and a mobile blender, Anne Blanchard with her oversized personal stereo, and Pat Lippoczy with 11 rolls of toilet paper and a tennis racket(???). Sift Stu Downs with seven frisbees and a box of Band-Aids, Roger Frey with three gallons of Fire Island Ice Tea, and JR and Patty Hanschen with one gallon of Texas chili. Fold in Edie Shwalb and Joel Reidenberg with a 27 pound, vodka-filled watermelon, Walter Foster with 100 "Mr. Forks, 350 Mr. Napkins," and a percolator cord. Mix well. Spread suntan lotion evenly over Barb Angus (SPF 15), Steve Brosnihan's feet (SPF 8), Dan Scherman (SPF4), and Robin "Jane Fonda" Henning (SPF 2), and combine with Dan Gelb on a nude beach. Barbecue with Bob Dinan and 35 pounds of charcoal until burned; cool mixture and Bob Mullen with ten cases of beer and three gallons of Green Machines, Jim Perkins with six gallons of OJ and three gallons of vodka, and RichGoldman with 15 pounds of lasagna. Serve over three days of gorgeous sunshine as predicted by Rob O'Neal, on Memorial Day Weekend at Jeff Teich's beach house on Fire Island, and have a fantastic Big Chill reunion weekend! All the '83s attending look mahvelous with their phenomenal tans!
Update on the partiers: Steve Brosnihan is now in a place of his own in Bristol, R.I. Bruce Redman also moved and is now in a swinging singles studio apartment near the Capitol in downtown D.C. Robin Henning ("Hips") was recently promoted at Manufacturers Hanover. AnnBlanchard ("Blips") is taking piano lessons, Pat Lippoczy ("Lips") will be at Harvard B-School this fall (with Lisa Pisano and Lore Serra), and soon-to-graduate (finally) Stu Downs will most likely be in Boston. Roger Frey and Dan Gleb will be working in medical-type careers in NYC this summer, just after finishing their med boards. JR Hanschen is promising to come east more often and is presently seeking to build a house for himself and the Mrs. in Dallas. Joel Reidenberg is currently working for Cleary, Gottlieb, and Etc., a large Wall Street law firm, has had an article published in Columbia's International Law Journal, and is not dating (for the record) Edie Shwalb ("Shwips"), now a "bond rating specialist" at Standard and Poor's. Barb Angus is spending her summer away from Harvard Law, living in Manhattan's Yupper West Side. On that note, soon-to-be law students this fall include Walter Foster (Columbia), BobMullen (Michigan), and Jeff Teich (Berkeley). Also moving west is Rob O'Neal, who will be starting a two-year meteoro-logical program at Colorado State University. Bob Dinan recently transferred to the consulting department at Peat Marwick but is still going for his C.P.A. DanScherman and Jim Perkins are now the owners of a two-bedroom condo in Boston's Back Bay. Writer Rich Goldman is ready to start a new masterpiece, having completed his premier screenplay. Honorable Mention: Congrats to Bob Wolff, who was married this summer on Cape Cod.
Thanks, Jeff, for this great addition. I am sure we have other 'B3s in the audience who would like to get involved, so send me your columns.
C.C. Ginsberg, currently attending Stanford Business School, wrote to say she wanted her friends mentioned in the column so she sent me details on a few of them: Kerry Sullivan will be at Dartmouth Medical School this year. Kerry had previously taught biology in Nashville, Tenn., and spent summers in West Virginia. Betsy Jaeger will be returning to Loomis-Chaffee to teach English this year. Anne Albright is coaching women's hockey at Harvard while working for a local sports journal. Anne's ex-roommate, Natalie Hulen, is in her second year at New York University Law School.
Another eagle is Bill Bailey, who is at Boston College Law School and living in Brighton, Mass. Also spotted in the Boston area was Jim Terbroek, who is pursuing an advanced degree in engineering at Cornell.
Before I sign off I would encourage you to write and send info on people such as Anne Elizabeth Dean, Mike Defelice, and Arvo Mikkaner.
