December, no doubt, will bring a few chill winds, but also the prospect of the holiday break. For the members of the working class here in Chicago this means a few Blackhawks games, visits from relatives, and plenty of gasoline for the snowblower. Luckily, mail is still delivered during this period of darkness known as winter; and I do have a couple of newsworthy items from fellow '75s.

As promised, I persisted and found Suzanne Metzel hard at work in downtown Chicago. The last report placed her whereabouts at the firm of Phelan, Pope, and John. What I did not know is that she is a practicing civil litigator. She has been at it for about six years since her graduation from Chicago Kent Law School.

I'm sure you all remember reading of Julia Geer's rowing exploits. She has now opted to make the headlines in a new department. She is now the most recently betrothed member of our class, having been married on July 27, 1985. Despite the fact that she married a Brown University graduate, reports are that the two have a tremendous amount in common. Dick and Judy are both employed by Concepts II of Morrisville, Vt.; and both are members of the United States rowing team.

The elusive Sam James recently surfaced in unlikely surroundings and writes this account to describe his own amazement: "With my wife, Joy, and our soon-to-be-born first child, I recently moved to Manhattan - Manhattan, Kari., that is. I am working on my National Science Foundation grant to study the role of earth worms in nutrient cycling in tallgrass prairie." Sam had a more colorful description of this project, which will not be published for fear that I might incriminate him. He is apparently having some trouble locating suitable roller-skiing sites, and snow is likely somewhat sparse. Ever the optimist, Sam points out that the drive to the Rockies is only ten hours. By the time you all read this, Sam and Joy will be parents, so good luck and congratlations.

I also had the pleasure of actually catching Tom Bodine in the office on a Friday afternoon. Tom reminded me that we enjoyed a French class together 14 years ago. Fortunately, the conversation moved to higher plane from there. Tom is presently back at the home office of Paul Revere Life in Worcester, Mass. He is a second vice president in the life products department. Tom remains very involved with Dartmouth as a member of the executive committee of the local club. He had just returned from a club luncheon, which is the reason for my surprise at finding him in the office. Tom seems to be faring quite well with a one-year-old son and a house on the lake. Although he admits to an interest in "returning to the field," the benefits of his present assignment appear quite attractive.

Tom passed on some information regarding Charlie Booth, who was recently married in the New York City financial district. The wedding took place in June, and Charlie married a lady named Dena. I will apologize to both Charlie and Dena for not knowing Dena's maiden name, but this is a good excuse for you to write.
