The death of Jigger Merrill saddens us all. He was a fine gentleman, and no one contributed more to the success of class affairs than he. He attended all class reunions, and his work as editor of the "Smoke Signal" was outstanding. He will be sorely missed.

Chet De Mond reports he had a letter from A. Maxson Smith, who now lives in Los Angeles. He is in good health with a blood pressure of 140 over 80 and enjoys dancing.

Stu Russell reports he has a touch of vertigo. He feels this may prevent him from coming north this fall, as has been his custom. I talked to Max Norton recently, and he says he is confined to the second floor of his home. Nevertheless, he seems well.

If you have not already sent in your Alumni Fund donation, do so at once. It will save the time and expense of follow-ups.

We received word that Chet De Mond died on March 26. As class treasurer he has kept us on an even keel and also has been a major benefactor of the College. We shall miss him. A more formal obituary will appear at a later date.
