The '89 mini-reunion was the best yet. Colors were at their peak, 42 attended, including five widows, a term which hardly fits these lovely ladies. Ken Jacques made it from California and Em Hobbs from Williamsburg, Va. There were two dinners, one at the Inn and the other at the Outing Club. The event was capped off by a brunch at the 1785 house of Nat Leonard overlooking the reds and yellows of the valley.

One classmate or another always seems to break a record. This time it's Hank Pierpont who retired at age 60, by his own choice, from the U.S. National Bank of Omaha where he was vice president in charge of investments. He escapes to La Jolla, Calif., for four months every year to be near his two daughters. Hank has a fourgeneration Dartmouth tradition. A brother, Howard, was '32, and a grandson, David, is '91. He says that retirement is the best thing that ever happened to him, but lest you think he spends his time in idleness, he's on several boards, one for crippled kids.

Bill Lewis, an ardent attendant at reunions, had to miss the mini because of a health setback from which he is doing well. He and Harriet were with us spiritually. This is the first reunion they have missed.

A well dressed man always catches the eye of the young ladies. Bob Mcdonald had a student friend who worked for Campion's and sold him a grey-and-white seersucker his senior year. It went over well with Janet who was a student at Smith. He attributes the suit to stealing her away from a Princeton man in whom she was interested.

Ralph Alexander has added archeology to his long list of hobbies at the University of Rochester. Muggs D'Arcy, one of the most devoted class widows, is now treasurer of The Colonial Dames of New Hampshire. The Burrills, long residents of Whitman, Mass., have just moved to a lifecare home in Needham. Fred Helmholz was elected the first president of the National Board of Respiratory Care.
