Dave Viscott, M.D., is a practicing psychiatrist who has authored several books in his field. Over the past several years, he has also hosted a show on sex therapy on the ABC Talkradio Network. In a comparatively recent issue, People magazine did a number of articles related to the

subject of infidelity. The People correspondent who interviewed Dave asked him a series of provocative questions like "Is infidelity about sex?", and "What leads someone to cross over the line from flirtation to infidelity?" For his answers, see the August 10, 1986, issue pages 94 and 95.

After 25 successful years with North American Philips Corporation, culminating in his election a year ago as an executive vice president, Einan Kloster resigned his position there to become chairman of Klosters Cruise A/S, a family owned Norwegian business.

Making a career switch in the other direction is Goody Gilman. Twenty-five years ago, Goody started a successful electrical supply business which grew to have some six locations in Maine and New Hampshire. This year, Goody sold the business to Consolidated Electrical Distributors (CED), headquartered in Westlake Village, Calif. However, as Goody puts it, "instead of retiring to a quiet lake in Maine," he has agreed to continue managing his six locations, plus ten of CED's in New Hampshire, Vermont, and northern New York (Saranac Lake and Syracuse). While Goody notes that his wife, Sheila, attributes his decision to "male menopause," he confesses that the deciding factor was that one of his new locations is in White River Junction, and exhorts "It's great to be back!" Goody adds that daughter Gayle '85 (ed. note: a quality contributor as an undergraduate to this magazine) is gainfully employed at Leo Burnett, the Chicago advertising firm. Son Andrew is a member of the class of 1987, and son Matthew, 16, "continues to keep [the Gilmans] young." Goody used to room at Phi Delt with Scott Booma and Ted Izzard. Goody and Sheila, Scott and Moonyeen, and Ted and Gay all got together at Goody's home this summer, marking the first personal reunion for the men in over 20 years. Scott, who lives in Marblehead, is engaged in the insurance salvage business in Boston. Ted is a vice president with Bausch and Lomb in the Phillipines.

Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, N.H. awarded Dave Gavitt, commissioner of the Big East Athletic Conference, an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at its 21st commencement ceremonies in May. We are certain that Dave must feel good about this one, since he entered Dartmouth from nearby Peterborough. Congratulations, Dave!

Landon Rowland recently addressed a Kansas City not-for-profit citizens' forum on the forward-looking topic of "Amercia's Changing Telecommunications Infrastructure and the Opportunities Presented to Its Users." Landon is president and chief operating officer of Kansas City Southern Industries (KCSI). A member of the executive committee and board of directors of KCSI and a director of the Kansas City Southern Railway Company, Landon is chairman of the board and a director of DST Systems, Inc., LDX Group, Inc., and Martec Pharmaceuticals, Inc., all subsidiaries of KCSI. Prior to joining KCSI, Landon was a partner in the Kansas City law firm of Watson, Ess, Marshall, and Enggas from 1970 to 1980. A 1962 graduate of the Harvard Law School, Landon was also a professional lecturer in antitrust law at the University of Missouri-Kansas City from 1977 to 1979. The Rowlands have three children: daughter Sarah, a 1983 graduate of Smith College; son Matthew, at Harvard College; and a younger son, Joshua.

As many of you have observed in PeterJaffe's early September letter to '59s, Doug Wise has taken up the baton from Dick Press as class newsletter editor. Most of you will recall what a fine job Doug did writing this column in the early seventies. We are indeed fortunate to have his "flaming pen" at our disposal once again! By now, you have already received a newsletter with a little green card in it. If you have not already done so, take a minute or two to jot down news of yourself, your family, and other classmates, and put it in the mail. Don't be bashful! I've been writing about guys just like you for the past couple of years, and none has either (a) "moved Mt. Rushmore," or (b) to my knowledge, blushed a lot about what I wrote. Do it, while you're thinking about it!
