As a result of a special program at the University of Southern Maine, RandyDominic will be teaching English at Westbrook High School in Portland, Maine. The program is designed for people who want to jump tracks in mid-career and become high school teachers. Randy worked selling real estate for three years, took some time off to cowrite a historical novel, and earned a Master of Arts in American history from the University of Maine in 1985. "Teaching is the culmination of my desire to do something better with my life."
Tom McWhorter has been appointed manager of applied research and development in the industrial gas division of Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. In his new position, Tom will be responsible for the development and commercialization of applications for industrial gases. Tom has just completed an assignment in Great Britain as European applied research and development manager.
Lieutenant Commander RandallCooper, U.S. Naval Reserve, was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal on September 7. The citation read in part "Lieutenant Commander Cooper's superior instructional and operational skills contributed directly to the USS Miller's award of the Meritorious Unit Commendation and Battle Efficiency 'E'." In civilian life, Randy is an attorney with the firm of Cooper, Fauver and Deans in North Conway, N.H.
Robert Robbins was named vice president of the Robinson-Humphrey Company, Inc., and is now responsible for market strategy and technical analysis. Bob, who was the chief investment strategist for Thomson McKinnon Securities, Inc., in New York, will work with the analysts to develop investment strategies for the brokers and trading desk to benefit the clients at Robinson-Humphrey.
Our class had a pretty good turnout at the Harvard Game. Many of the regulars were there, and next year we will, without fail, arrange for a pre- and/ or post game get together. Take care and write.
