Greetings. My recent appeals for news have resulted in some interesting replies. Among the names from the past that have surfaced is that of former class president Fred Wall. Fred wrote that he and wife Joie Hyde live in Washington, Conn., where he and another Wall Street veteran have set up their own firm, concentrating on mergers and acquisitions. Joie has returned to school at NYU to complete her master's in social work. Jamie Hampton of dance fame lives nearby. Fred enjoys the freedom of the self-employed set. He and Joie recently returned from four months in Europe which included a visit to Corrine LaBalme in Paris. Corrine is a free-lance writer and a senior editor for Passion magazine (sounds like something the lacrosse team used to read on away-game bus trips).
Fred saw Joe Hoffman at a gathering at Jack Nicholson's in Chicago. Jack is a trust officer at the First National Bank of Chicago while Joe is with AT&T, after having graduated with top honors from UChicago's business school. Joe and his wife, Lorretta, had their first child, Paul Martin, before Christmas 1985. Also in attendance at Jack's were Dr. Jeff Riecker, his wife, Paula, and new baby girl; they are now based in Claremont, Calif. Last, but not least, Joe Slaby was in town from Fort Lauderdale where he was recently promoted by Teletronics.
Fred also said he saw Stark Holecamp in New York. As previously reported on these pages, Stark owns a light-fixture import firm in Fort Lauderdale. Jim damage is an institutional salesman with Sanford Berstein Company, an investment research company in New York. KimCushman is a writer living in Williamstown, Mass., and Dave Balderston is with Connecticut Bank and Trust in Hartford. Art Howe is a fireman in West Hartford and is taking management courses at night as a prelude to managing a fire district. He and his wife, Karen, have a child, Merith, three years old.
Whew, Fred, we are talkin' some letter there, pal. You definitely are in the running for the recently announced Best Correspondent award, to be presented at our 10th reunion. First prize is a pair of president Josh's old baseball socks, second prize is two pair, etc. If the rest of you drop me a note, you, too, can be considered for this prestigious award.
Gotta go. My spring training - a switch from dark rum to light beer - is about to get underway. Best to all.
