Nate Smith dropped us a note in March to say he and Carolyn still own and operate Smith's Farm Stand, a 15-acre vegetable and berry operation in Gilford, N.H. Among other things, the Smiths tap 1,500 trees for maple syrup each spring. Nate reports that Brent, nine, and Maggie, eight, are both thriving, and future plans include the addition of a business computer, expansion into greenhouse tomatoes, and the acquisition of additional land.

Bill Bredehoft writes from Billings, Mont., that he's married, has two kids, and is enjoying life in the Big Sky country.

Jim Gifford married Becky Jensen last January 18. According to his note, the wedding was followed by a "fantasy honeymoon involving a trip on the Concorde, a cruise on the QE2, a transit of the Strait of Magellan [I hope Ned Gillette is reading this. - C.P.], an acquaintance with Walter Cronkite, and a Carnival weekend in Rio for Mardi Gras. During all that I went higher and faster than I ever had (including my navy days in supersonic fighters); I went farther south than I ever have (Sydney was my previous best); and relaxed more than I have in 20 years (well, maybe 19)." Then there was Something about Green Key Weekend in 1967.

Dean Brown also wrote to say that after living for some 11 years in Berlin, West Germany, teaching with the University of Maryland, free-lance writing, and working in broadcasting, he now works as a press secretary in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C.

Finally, we got a very friendly note from Steve Schwartz, advising that he's in touch with Bob Span, who practices law in Los Angeles, and Harris Wagenseil, who's in charge of government relations for the Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Ind. Steve and Deborah and their seven-year-old son and three- year-old daughter live near the beach in Coronado, Calif., and Steve practices law in a two-man San Diego firm which "has remained intact for the past 13 years."

Steve closed his letter on a forward-looking note, anticipating a trip to Hanover for our 20th reunion. Although that's still a good many months away (maybe not really all that many!), it's probably not too soon to start thinking about that rather significant occasion.
