Within the prescribed limit of 300 words, the obituary on Bill Bullen in the obituary section of this issue is mainly about Bill's love for Dartmouth. But Bill did have additional interests.

For example, during his sons' early years, Bill was active in the Waban Boy Scouts, and he was past president of the Newton YMCA. He was an active director of the Newton Community Chest, the Newton Red Cross, and treasurer of the Douglas A. Thom Clinic for Children in Boston. He was Boston chairman for the United Negro College Fund, and he was president of the board of trustees of Kimball Union Academy, Meriden, N.H.

He and his family were active members of the Union Church of Waban. As parents, he and his wife, Odie Lee, held numerous positions of leadership there, and their children were regular Sunday school attendants.

Bill enjoyed golf, but he loved tennis. He was past president of Brae Burn Country Club in West Newton and of the Neighborhood Club in Waban.

Following graduation from Tuck School in 1923, Bill worked for six years for Archie M. Peisch and Company, Hanover, N.H., accountants. During this time he became a certified public accountant. Leaving Hanover for Boston, he became an officer and later a director of the Southern Advance Bag and Paper Company, Inc. After nearly 30 years, he "retired," but still went daily to his office at 38 Newbury Street, Boston,. and devoted his attention to responsibilities as head trustee for a multimillion-dollar charitable trust fund.

Bill's first wife, the former Odie Lee M. Meek of Jonesboro, La., died of cancer in 1967. His second wife, the former Ger-

trude E. Flanders of Newton, died, also of cancer, in 1982.

Pastor Paul E. Barnes '46, officiated at the memorial service in the Union Church, Waban. The class of 1922 was represented by Ray Atwood and LenMorrissey; the College by Anne Peyton and Sally Prescott, friends of the family from Hanover. Other alumni present were Mr. and Mrs. Edward E. Martin '19 and F. William Andres '29, and undoubtedly other Dartmouth people in the large gathering. Bill Bullen Jr. '54 gave a most appropriate eulogy, saying, "Those who never got to know him [Bill Bullen Sr.] missed meeting a truly exceptional gentleman."

Have a healthy summer!
