Tom Noonan continues to serve as chair of the department of Russian and East European studies at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. In September 1985 he visited Poland as part of a faculty exchange program with one of the Polish universities. Upon his return, he gave a one-day mini-course on the Soviet Union at a maximum security prison. He was recently named to the editorial board of Soviet Studies in History and is a project director for a three-year Department of Education grant to improve undergraduate Russian studies in the Twin Cities.
Ken Van Kleeck writes from Orange, Calif., that he has been on the West Coast since 1979 and is currently employed by Calcomp, a Sanders company, as VP, finance. Ken married his wife, Jeanne, in February 1984. His daughter, Stephanie, graduated from the University of Southern California in June 1985.
Jerry Wunderlich works for Georgia Pacific. He and his family moved into their new home at 2256 Hyde Street in San Francisco,-94109. Jerry's job takes him between San Francisco, Hawaii, and Guam. His daughter, Heidi, graduated from Cornell, son Greg is at the University of Colorado, and son Jerry is contemplating college or working for a while.
John Vroundgos Nicholas made a successful career change after having risen to the post of European director for Sports Illustrated in 1975. After stints as a clinical psychologist at the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich and at London University, he relocated in 1979 to San Francisco. There, he continued the private practice of marital and family counseling and also taught at the University of California, San Francisco extension. He has since returned to the corporate world as a vice president at Drake, Beam, Morin, a subsidiary of Harcourt, Brace, Javonovich, where he counsels executives on career transitions. He reports that "business is booming and is a wonderful transition for (him)." He and wife Dianna recently celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary while skiing at Lake Tahoe. Daughter Jillian is now a sophomore at Santa Clara University, and son Jonathan is a sophomore at Dunn Preparatory School.
Also out on the West Coast, Tim Rich writes from Seattle that he and Karen moved to the Seattle area 25 years ago when they were married and have always felt fortunate to be living there. Their son, Nat, graduated from Notre Dame this year, and daughter Ann is a freshman at the University of Idaho. Tim and Karen recently enjoyed a dinner out and the movie Out of Africa with Bob and HelenKing.
Victor E.D. King, a Plainfield, N. J., lawyer, wrote recently that he was taking on the New Jersey Commissioners of Health and Education in a big lawsuit over whether primary-grades AIDS patients could be kept out of the regular classroom. He finds himself having to become an expert on infectious diseases. Vic mentions that he is "raising a family longdistance due to a divorce." He says he enjoys cross-country skiing.
Roger Ingraham has been a lawyer in Medina, Ohio, since he received his law degree at Western Reserve University right after Dartmouth. He was a county prosecuting attorney for the eight-year period between 1972 and 1980. Between 1983 and the present, he has been a city law director. Roger is active in the local Republican party and various corporations. His wife, Sarah, is an artist and a teacher. The couple has three daughters, Ellen, 20, Amy, 18, and Ann, 13, the older two of whom are in college.
Dick Pearson, who chairs the counselor education program at Syracuse University, has found time to be active in the Dartmouth Club of Central New York. His daughter, Gwen, is a member of the class of 1987. He says he has crossed paths a couple of times with John Baldwin, who chairs the university's chemistry department.
Norrie Nims Jr., wrote in our 25th reunion yearbook that he and his wife, the former Susan Strothers (Wellesley '62), have enjoyed rural Alaska since their marriage in 1963. He also mentioned that it had taken a variety of jobs to sustain
them, including employment in school teaching, heavy equipment operation, and oil technology. Last summer, Norrie had a spinal fusion, from which it took him six months to recuperate. In what is no doubt an understatement, Norrie said his summer was restful and contemplative and that his physician had recommended that he take up bird-watching and forego some of his more rigorous homesteading activities.
Jerry Scott is vice president, management information systems, for Lionel Leisure Corp. He is active in local Republican politics in Rosemont, Pa., and has served in numerous community organizations. In 1963, he married Jane Almy (Pembroke '57). The couple has two daughters: Debbie, a junior at Brown, and Susan, a freshman at Colby College.
