This month's mail brought us news of two career moves by classmates. CreightonKlute has opened his own law practice in St. Joseph, Mich., where he and Joy live with her two daughters. Creig has been a partner in a Michigan firm and a member of the Business Law and Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law sections of the Amer- ican Bar Association. His new practice will concentrate on business and environmental law, as well as wills, trusts, and probate.

Michael Darby continues his service to our country with a new post in Washington. Mike was confirmed as under secretary for economic affairs to succeed Robert Ortner. It sounds as if Mike will be very busy in the near future since his position includes oversight of the Bureau of the Census and the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Since 1986 Mike was the assistant secretary for economic policy at the Treasury Department. Mike, who has written numerous books on banking, macroeconomics, and international finance, prepared for this work with a Ph.D. from Chicago and faculty positions at Ohio State and UCLA.

We recently had a great educational "happening" and a nice reunion here at Dwight-Englewood School. Our ethics classes invited Peter Golenbock to visit for two days. Peter conducted assemblies on various issues of sports ethics and had class discussions with students on the controversy Peter has created with his latest book Personal Fouls. Having just seen Peter on the "Geraldo" show, the students were ready to question him not only on matters of player eligibility, payment, and educational standards, but also on issues of journalistic principles. Peter summarized his experiences with the book by saying he was "gratified by the reforms that have resulted, but traumatized by the level of the personal attacks that have occurred."

Peter and Rhonda have recently returned from several months in Florida where Peter was working on his next book for late fall publication. He spent the season with the St. Petersburg Pelicans, a team in the Senior Professional Baseball Association. Made up of former professional ballplayers 35 or older, the team and the lives of these former players will be the focus of the new book. Remember that our next reunion is in the planning process. If you have ideas or want to help, just contact Paul Killebrew.

Please keep the mail coming.
