Amidst all the hullabaloo out of Hanover about the crying need for more top notch students I hope they do not forget to get some good running backs. I am reminded that an alumnus of a sister Ivy league college once said that what his alma mater needed to do was to trade a five-foot set of books for a damn good quarterback.

I received a long and interesting letter from Eddie Heydt. Eddie founded Vapon, Inc., some 50 years ago and still goes to the office every day. As far as I know he is the only member of the class who does.

Mary and Nick Sandoe and I visited Jimand Mary Davis on a hot July day. Mary has recovered well from her various operations. Jim retains his keen wit. While in the house we neglected to close the car windows and a heavy rain came up which dampened the seats. One of the three said on the way home that a wet bottom had a humbling effect.

The writer has been posing for an oil painting for the Ed and Bea Martin room at Stonehill. The painting of Bea was made 35 years ago and I have requested the artist, who is from Italy, to make me look about her age.
