Dick and Katy Black and Larry and MaryLougee were injured in a November car crash. Kitty manages to sound cheery while telling of the problems of sneezing with eight broken ribs, a broken pelvis, and a broken clavicle! Dick had a burst appendix two weeks later but is back at the Kaffee Klatsch. The Lougees were able to have their family holiday in Texas.

Before he died John Roemer enthused about Hawaii but asked that his classmates read this:

I know a valley in New Hampshire, A granite goblet graven By patient rain drops slaving Through centuries of desire To perfect their design To catch the moon's white wine.

Class of 1929 news has a current of courage and acceptance and continued love of Dartmouth. Herb Fish has lost speech and some mobility to Lou Gehrig's disease but writes, "I manage with a Magic Slate (69). Our lives are rich with experiences and replete with happiness." They love their Bradenton, Fla., set-up. Herb was president of Japan's Dartmouth Club for five years and president in Paris for seven. He now misses most his Dartmouth meetings.

The Ben Staceys, Bill Magenau, JohnQuebman, and I heard three sophomores and a freshman talk at our Cape Cod club. All were accepted at other Ivies, and all said warmly, "I made the right choice." They say the fringe groups who make unhappy news are small, and they hope President Freedman will give his top attention to the majority who make Dartmouth great.

I'm on a College committee seeking to improve alumni influence through our Alumni Council. Do write or call.

We grieve with the families of MorganBaker and Frank Small who died in November.

Oh ye who seek to know the Master Plan Of Him who incidentally made Man, Think ye because we're bound by Time and Space That he can't hear each prayer and know each face?
