The class thanks our ladies of '33 for their continual participation in class affairs, particularly the widows who are making a head start on the 55th Reunion beginning June 13. Ray Theriault, Emily Hobbs and JeanMeek have written personal notes to some 120 widows encouraging them to return for a warm welcome, a chance to renew old friendships and to make new ones. If any of you ladies are on the fence, lean a little towards coming. Rooms, events, and transportation are all arranged for, so no one need feel out of it.
Special thanks to Ruth Katz, who has taken over Mel's job as reunion treasurer, to Marge Worthington, the best president's wife any class ever had, and to Ti Gates, mother of Tom '61, and Greg '63, who plans to share the piano with Ted Allen at the next gathering.
Jud and Ginney Pierson are holding their own health-wise. There was a lot of good family news this fall when they attained the status of great-grandparents. Daughter Barbara and Hank brought their new grandson David from Michigan to be welcomed into the tribe and attend the wedding of grandson Jeff, son of Jay '62, to a New Hampshire girl. Unfortunately the senior Piersons Couldn't attend the affair, but the whole family stopped off in Connecticut on their way to and from it.
We all enjoyed Leo Bernache's acting and singing in college. After a lifetime of performing and managing, he reports a recent retirement to Middleburg, Va., to be near his two children. He has not abandoned the Muse yet, and now plays the organ at the nearby Methodist Church.
Do you remember when the Democrat candidates held a nationally televised debate from Spaulding Auditorium four years ago? Save the date of January 16 for a repeat performance, only it will be the Republicans this time.
