This winter I had the pleasure of seeing my cousin Barbara Donovan on her sojourn to the United States. She is the daughter of Jack M. Donovan '38. My uncle was a great track star and hurdler at Dartmouth. During one spring season he received varsity letters in both track and baseball. Barbara is presently working for Radio Free Europe in West Berlin.

I heard from George and Trina Ledyard, who live in Bellevue, Wash. They wrote to announce the birth of their second child, Richard, on August 14, 1987. Their first child, Brittany, is four years old. They have been living in the Seattle area since 1981. George is the chief instructor of the Seattle School of Arkido and a full-time parent on the day shift. Trina is a systems analyst for the University of Washington Hospitals by day, and full-time parent at night. Trina says that this modern relationship has given the children a chance to learn that "equality is more than a theory."

His wife, Debbie, who graduated from Smith in 1974, is working as an administrative officer/program monitor in the USAID Office. Their children Lalo 8, Matti 5, and Jalika 4, seem to thrive on the posting changes and have happily settled into their prospective classes at international schools in Addis. Saihou invites any classmates traveling through East Africa to pass through Ethiopia. Mail should be sent to his mother-in-law's address at 6 Mount Vernon Drive, East Granby, CT 06026.

I had the privilege of participating in an opera conference in Houston, Tex., a few weeks ago. I met the president and general director of Opera Colorado, Nathaniel Merrill '48. It is always fun to run into a fellow Dartmouth alumnus and talk about the good 'ol days.

I'm off to Los Angeles this weekend where I will see Debbie Reamer, Dartmouth exchange 1972-73.—Mary
