Despite current economic conditions, '79 mergers, acquisitions, and spinoffs continue. Last August, two of our classmates, Joseph Neuhaus and Cindy Loomis, were married in Upper Montclair, N.J. Joe is an associate in the New York office of Sullivan & Cromwell; Cindy is enrolled at N.Y.U. as a candidate for a joint M.D./Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology. Bennett Kashdan married Susan Elizabeth Mandel in November. They are both senior radiology residents at the Nassau Medical Center. In February, Dr. Craig Williams and Yvette Doan exchanged vows in Villanova, Pa. And in late 1987, a long family tradition was broken: Eleanor shannon Salem gave birth to a boy, Peter. "Elnuh's" husband, David, now looks forward to wresting control of the household from his wife and daughter Cara.

Having finished a fellowship in cardiology, Emil Pollak will be returning to the Hanover Plain to practice medicine; Emil will be affiliated with the Hitchcock Clinic and the Dartmouth Medical School. Kurt Stange, his wife, Anne, and their two-yearold son, Jonathon, are moving to Cleveland where Kurt will teach at Case Western Medical School and Anne will work as a pathologist at Cleveland Metropolitan Hospital.

While serving as the administrator for operations at the Harvard Art Museums, Jim Moisson is studying at the Harvard Extension School. Jim and his wife, Maureen Leahy, live in Lincoln, Mass., and they have a son, Luke. Carol Gieg is living in the San Francisco Bay area, and, as a psychotherapist, works with the developmentally disabled.

Received some cards from the international set. Charles Laubach is a barrister in Abu Dhabi and writes that he's surprised I admit to living in Baltimore. I'll be sure to let you know if Charles is taken as a hostage. Apparently living off lottery winnings or a trust fund, Todd and Diane Scantlebury are sailing around the world this year. Scants dropped me a line from Grand Cayman, where he had hooked up with Rick Swanson. Kevin and Debbi Sullivan are expecting to join the expedition in Belize. Finally, while most of us were dodging the Shanghai flu this winter, Puddie Hauge Sword spent three weeks in Calgary covering the Olympics for ABC radio. Attention, D. Bruce Bierman: if you don't call or write, I'll be forced to draft a short story about you in the next column.
