Sadly I report the death of one of our classmates. Arvin Gunnison died in Sarasota, Fla., on February 7. He is survived by a daughter, Deirdre G. Wiseman of Brookline, Mass., two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His wife, Irene, died in 1985. He was a loyal and devoted member of our class.
Gunny was a member of the 1922 championship golf team, which had an 8-1 record. A complete obituary will appear in the Alumni Magazine.
Jackie Brown, daughter of our classmate J. Regan Brown, advises us that her father is now at the Franklin Nursing Home in Greenfield, Mass. He spends weekends with her at Shattuckville, MA 01369, which should be used as a permanent address.
Peter Kilmarx '83, grandson of our classmate Killy Kilmarx, is now a first-year student at Dartmouth Medical School. He was recently awarded a SmithKline Beckman fellowship of $4,900. It was one of only 29 such fellowships funded in 1987.
Kilmarx used his stipend to conduct a 12- week study last summer of the residents of Zaire, their awareness of AIDS, and resulting changes in their sexual behavior. A very courageous and dedicated young man, I would say.
As these notes are written for publication two months hence in the May issue, it gives me just time enough to make one more pitch for the Alumni Fund. I am sure you have all participated. Don't forget we need news of you all.
