I always find it difficult to accept the deadline for copy a month and a half before publication date. So the news of dear PatHolbrook's passing on July 24 is over two months old. He died at home very peacefully after a long and slow decline, ana we shall not see his like again. He was a wonderful husband, a loving father, a faithful friend, and a loyal alumnus of Dartmouth.
As I write this I have before me a snapshot taken on June 12, 1982, at our home in Eastman, where several '20s and a number of other alumni had gathered to celebrate. Looking very debonair, from left to right, are Bud Weymouth, Pat, Dal Dalrymple, and Charlie Crathern. All but Dal have now left us, and he is not in the best of health. But the picture conjures up memories of the times Pat so much enjoyed with Dartmouth friends.
As the 70th anniversary of the class's graduation approaches, we can hope that some of us will be able to foregather in Hanover. Specific details of reunion plans should be forthcoming soon.
It would be so good to hear from any of you or from your loved ones.
