The Hanover environs provide grist for the secretary and news for the class. World traveler Sam Dillon was passing through the North Country and invited the locals to lunch. John Milne, LemBowen, Bob McCoy, Frank Irwin, JudSmith, Russ Stearns, Carl Erdman, and Tom Nast (who was attending the Alumni College) joined Sam at the Hanover Inn for a mini-reunion.

Sam had recently completed a three-and- a-half-month world cruise on the SS Universe (the same vessel on which our class traveled to Alaska last year), a seagoing classroom for 400 students and 22 professors. Sam took six courses, but admitted he didn't take the exams. He said the most interesting part of the trip was to live with 400 coeds and play golf in India at 7,600 feet.

The class of 1937 will set another record in September when Sam Dillon enrolls at the London School of Economics in the graduate program, studying political science, economics, and geography. The registrar told him he will be the oldest student enrolled. Sam, at a future mini-reunion, I think you should brief us on your post-graduate education.

While traveling through Montana, Sam visited with Briggs Austin and Jim Humphrey. Jim and his son have the James L. Humphrey Agency in Great Falls, which insures farms and ranches in 13 counties in Montana.

John and Nancy Milne will be spending several weeks at Eton's Ranch in Wolf, Wyo., in August.

Thank you Bill Rotch for completing the final installment of the Golden Jubilee Report, started by Rog Allen, and mailing to the class to complete an excellent class profile. When President McLaughlin spoke to our reunion luncheon, he invited the class to join him on "a very brief trip back to the 19305." Two sentences caught my eye: "And in the wake of student protest Paleopitus petitioned President Hopkins for fraternity reform, labeling the Greek system unwholesome. Dr. Wolfe, class of '2l, a well-known psychologist, expressed the belief that Dartmouth should go coed."

President Fran Fenn reports that President Freedman will attend our class meeting on September 16 at Hojo's to answer our questions. The new dean of the faculty, Professor James Wright, will speak at our class dinner Friday evening at the Outing Club. A great opportunity to listen to and ask about Dartmouth today.

Monk Amon, in a letter to Fran, tells of his experiences on the College-sponsored Danube trip in July. He had a great time and says we will enjoy our October class trip.

Alumni Fund wrap-up: 1937, the only class in our Green Derby group to exceed its goal for participation and the only class to exceed last year's total giving. Let's tell Dana and his agents they are great!
