President and Airs. James O. Freedman's and the Dartmouth College Board of Trustees's invitation for a reception and dinner on February 7, 1992, in honor of Ellen and Charlie Collis was the tip-off that an event of major significance for Dartmouth would occur.

President Freedman announced at the dinner that a $5.5 million gift from the Collises will finance a multipurpose student center which will transform the current Collis Center and College Hall into an expanded social, recreational, and dining facility.

Part of a gift Charlie gave the College in 1978 financed the 1979 construction of the current facility that bears his name. The gift also established an endowed chair in history and a series of scholarships benefitting more than 100 students.

The planned renovations will expand tie size of Collis Center from 11,500 to about 28,700 square feet.

Fran and Mary Fenn were guests and represented our class. Fran said that Charlie responded to several speeches with his usual humor, modesty, and sincerity, and he gave tribute to Dartmouth for the skills and values that he learned as a member of the class of '37, which, he said, made his success possible.

'37 congratulates Ellen and Charlie for their foresight and generosity in providing for the social needs of the undergraduates. We enjoy the fame that reflects on 1937 through the love and concern they have shown for Dartmouth.

The Fantastic 55th Reunion June 15-17, 1992, will be two months away when you read this column. There is still time to sign up, and we hope you will be with us on the Hanover Plain. President Fenn reports $200,000 pledged as of February 10 for our 55th Reunion Gift. The goal is $280,000.

Ben Doran's letter and brochure for Canada's Spectacular Voyage announced our 1992 class trip. Beginning October 1 with two nights in Montreal, we board the Victorian Empress for a seven-night cruise of Canada's St. Lawrence and Saguenay Rivers. The trip concludes in Montreal the afternoon of Saturday, October 10.

Mini-reunion this year is September 18-19 for the Pennsylvania game.

A Wyomissing neighbor of mine, Betty Macßae, moved to Islesboro, Maine, where she sees Burke and Midge Weldon. She reports that they are delightful people and are both master bridge players.

Travel notes: The Stearnses and Dorans have forsaken Hanover for Florida; the RobertMcCoys visited their California children at Christmas; the Ziemers visited son Commander Tom Breitinger, USN, at San Diego; and Sam Dillon is back in Christiansted.

We regret to report the death of DickMoore on November 23. Dick was with us at the mini-reunion in September. GardnerCook died on December 4 after a long illness. James Bush Jr. died on March 5. JackKenney's wife, Peg, died in January after a long battle with cancer.

Driving through Hanover on Friday afternoon, February 7, Carnival Weekend, I missed the snow sculptures at the dorms and fraternities. Reason given—little snow. There was an excellent snow sculpture on the green of Dr. Seuss's Grinch.
