Head Class Agent Fran Fenn is smiling again and expresses his thanks to all classmates who contributed to the 1994 Alumni fund. Incomplete figures, according to Fran, show a total of $98,450, exceeding our goal of $96,000. Another fine achievement for 1937.
More good news via Fran is that CharlieCollis, who had a heart bypass operation, is recuperating at home after six weeks in the hospital. Charlie, we hope you will be strong enough to join us at the mini-reunion September 23-24.
Mini-reunion co-chair John Johannessen and Mill had a busy spring attending four family graduations and one wedding in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida, and California. Despite that heavy travel schedule, John and Charlie Blaisdell have all the plans in order for the mini.
The anniversary of D-Day brought back memories to all of our generation. To one classmate, Rip Ripsom, the memory is particularly clear. A feature story in the Allentown Morning Call told how Rip was a pilot of a CG-4A glider and had a front-row seat when history was made on the early morning hours of June 6, 1944. He landed his cargo on a farm field in Normandy, and with other pilots managed to repair a damaged jeep and rattled back to Utah Beach. Rip found himself behind enemy lines at the battle of Arnheim in Holland. He said, "That was a tough one; it took [British Field Marshal] Bernard Montgomery ten days to get to us."
We regret to report the death of a loyal classmate, Steve Cochrane, on May 17. Dottie had predeceased Steve. We will miss them both.
