As you are reading this, fall is upon us, bringing the beautiful New England foliage that we all remember so well. This time 15 years ago, we were returning to Hanover for our senior year at the College on the Hill, preparing to brave the "real world."

This month's mail brings news of two classmates who have excelled in that real world in the fields of education and business. Richard Borden was recently awarded Harvard University's Joseph R. Levenson Award for excellence in teaching, an award given annually by Harvard's Undergraduate Council. Richard is assistant professor in the Slavic Languages and Literature Department at Harvard, and attributes his success in teaching to "having made a virtue of insecurities, inadequacies, and doubts."

On the business front, David Rousse was recently made vice president and general manager of The Legacy Company in Westfield, Mass. Legacy is a division of Strathmore Paper Company, where David has worked for the last five years. Congratulations to both Richard and David.

Al Austin reports from Boston that he has no regrets about leaving his job at E.F. Hutton in New York to find a small company to buy. And while the past two years have been lean on LBOs, they have been long on fan. Al reports that he and RobSinsheimer enjoyed a Sox game at Fenway from the bleachers (despite that fact that Rob has box seats). He also has been able to stay in touch with his two roommates from South Mass, Stu Cable and Jeff Morris, both of whom are lawyers, Stu in Boston and Jeff in Milwaukee.

I had a chance to catch up with my old roommate Keith Benson, and found him comfortably acclimated to small-town life in Sterling, III., where he works for the family business in product development. Keith seems to be doing something right, because business is great, and he and Mary enjoy taking their kids and friends out tubing on the Rock River.

This month's MIAs (Most Incommunicado Alums among '75s) are as follows:

Bob Allen Vickie Grove John Bartlett Michael Hoover Rob Bell Kevin Kenny Fred Chuang Frank Muller Don Dixon George Pratt

Today's modern technology allows you to report on these or other alums (including yourself) by fax to 415/391-4740. But remember, just the fax, ma'am.

Nuff sed.
